Oman’s Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has issued Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the design, construction, finance, operation, and maintenance of the Salalah-Thumrait truck road under the public private partnership (PPP) mode.
Documents can be obtained until 13th April 2023 and the last submission date is 4 May 2023.
The 67-km STTR is a first of its kind road to be designed for heavy vehicles.
A November 2022 Oman Daily Observer report said the project is expected to cost 200-250 million Omani riyals ($520 million-$650 million), and will serve the country’s mineral industry and trade flows with neighbouring Yemen, via the Al Mazunah Free Zone.
