Cairo, Egypt –Vezeeta, Middle East and Africa’s leading digital healthcare platform is set to join the Sixth Regional Medical Insurance and Healthcare forum on October 11 and 12, 2020, that will address Egypt’s most pressing healthcare challenges, and bring ideas to action through innovative public and private cooperation.

Organized by the Insurance Federation of Egypt, and sponsored by the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population, Ministry of Finance of Egypt, and the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority, the forum is dedicated to explore opportunities for digitization and automation of the insurance model in the nation, under the theme of, “Confronting Epidemics and Starting the Application of Comprehensive Health Insurance Egypt as a Model”. Joining the conference are top players from the public and private sector such as Vodafone Egypt, IQVIA, Novo Nordisk, Nestle, AXA, MetLife,  GlobeMed, Gig Egypt among others to help curate a blueprint for a digitally transformed healthcare system.

The conference also focusses on accelerating the progress towards achieving universal health coverage (UHC) in Egypt, in alignment with the Universal Health Insurance Law (UHIL) passed in December 2017, which states that,“Every citizen is entitled to health and to comprehensive health care with quality criteria.” The UHIL envisions coverage for all citizens, specially the vulnerable, by subsidizing healthcare for over 30 percent of the population.

As a Diamond sponsor of the forum,Vezeeta aims to further the national agenda and foster a patient-centric digital healthcare ecosystem that leverages AI-powered solutions to seamlessly connect service providers and insurance companies. In doing so,Vezeeta aims to infuse higher healthcare efficiency, accountability and responsiveness in the existing model, through digitization.

“We’re happy to have Vezeeta join the forum and share their expertise to help advance the digital transformation in the medical insurance industry, by the government as well as the private sector, using their platform that has already made strides in the Egyptian healthcare landscape over the years,” said Dr. Ehab Abul Magd, Chairman of the Egyptian Association of Healthcare Management, and a member of the Board of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Authority.

As the third largest economy and the fourth largest insurance market in Africa with total premiums of US$2.1Bn, Egypt’s bold UHI reform demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving the current system where families in the lowest income groups spend 21 percent of their income on healthcare-related costs, with 60 percent out-of-pocket payments. By automating the insurance system with industry-wide partners and stakeholders, Vezeeta aims to empower patients to make the best decisions for their healthcare, through data and knowledge.

“As a frontrunner driving innovation in the healthcares sector, Vezeeta has positively impacted the lives of millions of citizens since our early days, and today we’re proud to join the Sixth Regional Medical Insurance and Healthcare forum to further the digital advancement and automation in the insurance sector. With the support of public and private sector partners, we’re committed to accelerate the nation’s journey towards sustaining a model insurance landscape, and achieve universal health coverage in line with Egypt‘s 2030 Sustainable Development Vision, that ensures quality health and wellness for our communities,” said Amir Barsoum, Founder & CEO, Vezeeta.

Vezeeta’s 6 million patients across 6 countries can rate and review their doctors’ experiences that drives quality control, and also pick and choose their healthcare providers based on location, budget, health insurance provisions, availability and other key features.
