The Palestine CleanTech Innovation Program continues the implementation of its activities with the launch of its newly designed Acceleration Program. Reserved to those entrepreneurs, startups and teams who have been selected through the first edition of the Palestine Cleantech Innovation Competition 2021, the Acceleration Program will extend a bespoke coaching, mentorship and support journey built on the needs the Palestinian industries and entrepreneurs operating in the green energy sector. Designed by the UNIDO Palestine team within the activities of its MOUSTADAMA Programme, funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with the Ministry of National Economy (MoNE) and in cooperation with the Palestinian Energy and National Resources Authority (PENRA) and the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Empowerment for the CleanTech Component, it will provide technical coaching and business advisory services to finalize and scale the candidates’ business and product solutions.
During the 12-week full time acceleration process, the participants will have access to a comprehensive set of tools and resources, services and dedicated coaching activities that include business clinics, webinars, mock judging, and a final pitching event. The workshops will take place at the three CleanTech Hubs of the Palestine CleanTech Innovation Program, which are hosted respectively at the Palestine Technopark in Birzeit, at the AbuDis Campus of the AlQuds University, and at the Gaza University. Supported by their local coaches, the candidates will be constantly connected through video streaming and will benefit from the constant mentorship of UNIDO Palestine’s international and local experts. In addition, distinguished CEOs and executives from Palestine and abroad will provide their tutoring advice to support the candidates through their valuable experience and vision.
Among the 92 applications received through the Palestine Cleantech Innovation Competition - 1st Edition 2021, 65 have been selected as eligible candidate submissions, of which 45 ideas were admitted into the program. Developed within the energy efficiency, renewable energy and water-energy nexus categories, the submitted ideas, concepts, and/or products include solutions for increasing solar panels efficiency, generating hydropower, together with AI and IOT powered technologies for reducing the usage of electricity by industries or for generating energy from ocean waves as well as from various waste materials. More efficient e-mobility services for businesses have also been tackled by some of the proposals, while water sanitation has inspired solutions for new energy efficient water purification technologies.
The names of the candidates were officially disclosed during the launching event celebrating the kickoff session of the UNIDO’s Palestine CleanTech Acceleration Program with the participation of highlevel government partners and representatives from donors as well as UNIDO. The implementation of the program was launched with a speech from His Excellency the Minister of National Economy, a key partner of UNIDO in Palestine, as well as His Excellency the Minister of Entrepreneurship and Empowerment and His Excellency the President of the Energy Authority, together with the participation of a representative of the European Union, institutional partners and friends from the international community. The kick-off session was held in Palestine in Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip and Birzeit by simultaneous video streaming today on September 28, 2021.
