Abu Dhabi, Kuwait: Thuraya announced today the launch of its services in Kuwait with the National Satellite Telecommunications Services (NSTS), Thuraya's National Service Provider in Kuwait.
An official ceremony marking the official debut of Thuraya Services in Kuwait was held under the patronage of Mr. Jamal Al Jarwan, Chief Commercial Officer of Thuraya and Mr. Ali Shabir Abdulqudoos, Chief Executive Officer of NSTS, and attended by senior dignitaries from the public and private sectors of Kuwait.
Speaking at the press conference, Thuraya's Chief Commercial Officer Mr. Jamal Al Jarwan said: "Thuraya is pleased to launch its commercial services in Kuwait. We are encouraged by the support extended to Thuraya by the Kuwaiti regulatory bodies and by our shareholder MTC. We look forward to a fruitful business opportunity in Kuwait and to providing high quality satellite communications to complement the telecom networks,"
Mr. Al Jarwan also stated that "We have developed many solutions and applications to meet the needs of our various key market segments in the region such as oilrigs, industrial sites and rural areas. Thuraya has many offerings and applications for all sectors such as the fixed docking unit, payphone and maritime terminal."
On his part, Mr. Ali Shabir Abdulqudoos, Chief Executive Officer of NSTS said: "NSTS is honoured to create an alliance with Thuraya, the leading satellite operator in the world. Our business relationship with Thuraya is important to us, and Thuraya's offering will vastly expand our portfolio. We believe in the tremendous capabilities of satellite technology, and look forward to a strong and lasting partnership with Thuraya in satellite-enhanced communications solutions."
"Thuraya's services will also offer ideal and cost-effective communication solutions to subscribers roaming beyond the coverage area of the country's national mobile network," he added.
