Abu Dhabi - The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi, is participating in GITEX Technology 2021 under the Abu Dhabi Government pavilion. It is set to showcase its innovative projects and services at the event, which will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from October 17 to 21, 2021. ITC pioneering offerings have been meticulously worked upon to not only keep pace with the digital transformation in the sector but also to provide technological progress that eases and improves the quality of transport services to customers and society. These services aim to save both time and effort while supporting sustainability and development in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
ITC is exhibiting at GITEX the Strategic Transport Evaluation and Assessment Model for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi (STEAM+) and the on-demand bus service provided through the Abu Dhabi Link application.
The Strategic Transport Evaluation and Assessment Model for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi (STEAM+) is a sophisticated multi-modal travel demand tool that uses AI and Big Data analytics to support the decision-making process and prepare the transport master plans for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in order to achieve the sustainable development objectives.
The model incorporates the latest information on the mobility patterns in the Emirate, following a comprehensive analysis of the public’s traveling behaviours, and transport needs, in addition to utilizing big data at ITC and its stakeholders. This aids in understanding mobility patterns while acquainting them with the future needs of the population in this sector.
The project also included the development of a fully integrated Modelling framework, that consists of:
- Developing big data to understand mobility patterns and the needs of the transport sector
- Developing an integrated simulation model to study and assist the various transport investments and solutions
- Developing the STEAM BIRDSEYE digital interface to support data analysis
The on-demand bus service is one of the most modern and smart means of micro mobility, facilitating short commutes from one point to another using small on-demand bus services through the "Abu Dhabi Link" mobile application. It also contributes significantly to reducing customers’ journey and wait times. The service operates in a specific geographic area and enables the user to reach all destinations within it such as shopping malls, hospitals, clinics, schools, parks, service institutions, businesses, as well as public transport stations in the event of a moving outside that area and using the public transport network to any other destination.
ITC stated that GITEX exhibition, which attracts the largest international companies in the technology and communications sector, is an important opportunity to present ITC’s smart projects and initiatives to the exhibition's visitors and stakeholders in the public and private sectors. GITEX is an ideal platform to view the latest developments in the world. The innovative and smart solutions showcased will benefit ITC and support the process of modernization, development, and enhancement of the digital transformation in the transport sector. This all aims to improve the experience of customers and provide them with the best services in a way that enhances the quality of life in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and supports the efforts made to consolidate the pillars of comprehensive and sustainable development in the Emirate.
