Dubai, UAE: The Aquila School, part of International Schools Partnership (ISP), has appointed Benjamin Atkins as the Head of Secondary, beginning the 2021/2022 academic year.
Benjamin, a Fellow of the UK’s Chartered College of Teaching, joins The Aquila School with an array of educational experiences, most recently from another popular school in Dubai, where he was a part of the team that achieved high ratings from the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) and the British Schools Overseas (BSO).
“We have been very lucky to be able to appoint such a well-regarded and experienced leader to The Aquila School,” shared Wayne Howsen, Principal of The Aquila School. “We spent a long time finding our new Head of Secondary as we wanted someone who has a positive track record here in the UAE as well as someone who understands what matters in our school – children loving learning, having active and engaging lessons and making as much progress as possible within our relevant and engaging curriculum,” he said.
As part of his new role, Benjamin, brings extensive knowledge in the UK and IB curricula. He will be responsible for further developing the Secondary School at The Aquila School, ensuring even more success for the pupils who attend the school.

It will be an honour to lead the Secondary School and to have an integral role in preparing our young people to be a force for change, in making a positive difference in the world. As he prepares to take on his new role, Benjamin - a Guinness World Record holder for teaching the ‘World’s Largest Maths Class’, plans to work closely with the school team to prepare for the upcoming academic year.

My aim is to give our pupils a first-class education and I want our pupils to love coming to school every day.” said Benjamin.
Benjamin has over ten years of experience in educational leadership, spanning the UK and the UAE. A firm believer in life-long education, he holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, a PGCE in Inclusion, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Management, and the National Professional Qualification for Headship. Currently he is completing his Doctorate in Social Care, Policy and Practice with a focus on school attendance.
The Aquila School is an exciting international British school in Dubai, located in Dubailand.
