Riyadh – TEAM UNIQUE won top prize in the region’s biggest mobile esports competition, the PUBG Mobile Star Challenge (PMSC) World Cup 2019.
The trophy was presented by HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, President, Saudi Arabian Federation for Electronic and Intellectual Sports, alongside Eng. Faisal Bafarat, CEO, General Entertainment Authority. The conclusion of this tournament represents a major milestone for esports in the MENA region.
The tournament took place from December 12-14 in Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Season. Among 32 teams including local and international players, TEAM UNIQUE were granted the well-deserved win based on their talent, skill and dedication to mobile gaming.
As one of the most popular mobile games in the region and beyond, PUBG MOBILE’s presence in MENA is an opportunity to showcase local talent on a global scale. PUBG MOBILE expects that esports is en route to becoming a fundamental driver of the region’s future economy.
Testament to that is the fierce competition between players from the MENA region, some of which were shortlisted down to the top 10 winners. Some of these teams include 6N TEAM from Saudi Arabia and Yalla eSports from Lebanon.
Mohammad Al Shaibi from 6N TEAM said: “Hosting such an event in Riyadh shows that the Kingdom is capable of hosting bigger international events. We believe that esports is witnessing a great development in the region and seeing many fans watching the tournament online or by being with us at the festival made a large impact for everyone.”
