Doha: Every year, Aspetar, the orthopaedic and sports medicine hospital in Qatar, aims to encourage professional athletes and members of the community to sustain their physical activity levels during the holy month of Ramadan and will launch this year its ‘Healthy Ramadan’ campaign for both professional and recreational athletes on its social media channels using the hashtag #HealthyRamadan.

As part of this 2019’s campaign, a number of a multidisciplinary professional Qatari athletes and celebrities in football, handball, volleyball, athletics, squash and sports media personalities have joined Aspetar’s experts to present a range of innovative health and fitness tips.

Through a range of short videos, Qatari athletes and Aspetar’s experts will provide guidance for people fasting on a range of topics, such as: Iftar and Suhoor, eating habits, drinking fluids, Eid preparation, sleep patterns,, physical activity for non-athletes, exercises for professional athletes and oral health.    

The ‘Healthy Ramadan’ campaign will be led by Qatar national team football players and Aspire Academy Graduates, Al-Moez Ali and Abdelkarim Hassan; Qatar's Ambassador for Doha 2019 and Olympic athlete, Mariam Farid; Qatar’s national team volleyball player, Mubarak Dahi; Qatar’s national team Squash star, Abdullah Al-Tamimi; Qatari handball player, Abdulla Al-Karbi; Qatar national football team’s goalkeeper, Yousef Hassan; and the renowned sports anchor, Mohamed Saadoun Al-Kuwari. 

The expert video series will be available through Aspetar’s YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram channel starting from today. Ramadan-related health articles will also be available on Aspetar website.

Aspetar produces a wide range of videos designed to encourage people to be active and healthy year-round, featuring topics such as useful exercises and common diseases related to sedentary lifestyles.
