- Funds will support a humanitarian project in the Middle East which will be overseen by Siemens and the Foundation
Siemens and its employees in the United Arab Emirates contributed Dh430,000 to H.H. Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Humanitarian & Scientific Foundation (SBKF), part of a charity drive to help confront the suffering caused by Covid-19.
The funds were raised last month by Siemens, Siemens Energy, Siemens Healthineers and its employees. A cheque was presented on Wednesday to H.H Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, the Chairman of SBKF. Khalid Bin Hadi, a Managing Director at Siemens Energy, and Dr. Mahmoud Taleb, SBKF’s Chief Executive Officer, signed an agreement to cooperate on a joint program.
“Siemens is known around the world for its contribution to society, and this generous offering is in that vein. We thank Siemens and its employees for raising these funds at such a difficult time for so many people and look forward to building on our partnership as we implement this charitable program. Through the philanthropic work of the SBKF, this contribution will have a wide-ranging and beneficial impact on societies across the Middle East,” said H.H Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan.
“We are fortunate that even in these uncertain times, we can unite in the spirit of kindness to give back to the societies in which we live and work. We are thankful for the exceptional work that the SBKF does to benefit society by improving access to medical treatment and fostering developments in education and scientific research,” said Bin Hadi.
The contribution will go toward supporting a humanitarian project in the region which will be decided in the future and overseen by Siemens and the Foundation.
Over the years, Siemens has made numerous donations, especially in education and healthcare, to support important causes in the region and benefit society. Most recently, Siemens provided medical equipment for healthcare clinics in Egypt and Iraq.
In addition to Bin Hadi, Siemens’ businesses were represented by Ole Per Maloy, Head of Siemens Healthineers for Middle East and Southern & Eastern Africa, and Silvia Oppus, the Head of Human Resources for Siemens in the Middle East.
In April, Siemens AG set up a global Covid-19 aid fund under the auspices of the community-serving nonprofit organization Siemens Caring Hands e.V. Siemens spends about €80 million for donations and sponsorships every year.
