Abu Dhabi, UAE : The Sheikh Zayed Festival is intensifying its preparations to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the UAE through hundreds of events and activities that embody the spirit of the union and its achievements over the past 50 years while reflecting on the UAE’s Centennial 2071 and the rich cultural heritage of the country, through a range of national and international events, spectacular drone shows, fascinating fireworks, and the unique Emirates Fountain shows, along with diverse cultural and folkloric celebrations.
As part of the country's celebrations of the 50th National Day, the Festival will be organizing a full program of activities that start at 4pm and continue until 1am, over the three days of December 1, 2 and 3.
The festive program combines culture and entertainment in a wholesome family atmosphere that brings delight to the hearts of visitors coming from all over the country to participate in the UAE’s National Day on December 2nd, which has been declared “World Futures Day” by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to coincide with the National Day of the UAE.
World Future’s Day, which will now take place on this date every year, is an invitation to all countries of the world to embrace the future and develop their capabilities in the fields of foresight, readiness and proactive policy-making to ensure sustainable development for future generations.
The drone shows will present impressive aerial art that lasts for 18-minute in the skies of Al Wathba, followed by a magnificent 10-minute firework display, in addition to the Emirates Fountain shows that combine water-falls and laser lights derived from the colors of the UAE flag set to the rhythms of traditional Emirati songs.
Meanwhile, participating pavilions at the Sheikh Zayed Festival will hold hundreds of activities and performances that will be presented by traditional folk groups to celebrate the 50th National Day of the UAE. The International Civilizations parade will be marching around the Festival arena with its international folkloric troupes, along with various activities for children that focus on instilling the values of loyalty, belonging, and patriotism.
The Festival also celebrates many national pavilions, most notably the Emirates Civilization pavilion, which showcases the rich Emirati culture, customs, and authentic traditions and craftsmanship, taking visitors on a fascinating journey through time to learn about the most important ancient Emirati arts and crafts that the ancestors mastered and were keen to pass on to further generations.
With pride of place during National Day celebrations, the "Year of 50th" pavilion presents a unique art exhibition held to celebrate the Golden Jubilee, showcasing the journey and milestones of the UAE during the past 50 years, highlighting the role of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, in developing, building and inspiring humans and society to prosper and grow, and follow his insightful vision for the bright future of the UAE.
