Kuwait City, Kuwait: Multi award-winning Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre is proud to announce that it has been nominated for the LCD Berlin Awards for 2021 under the category of ‘New Cultural Desination of the Year’(Middle East/Africa).  The award recognizes the Centre as a cultural icon of innovation and unique experiences that serves as a leading destination for local communities and travellers.

Organised by LCD Berlin, a partnership between Leading Culture Destinations and visitBerlin, the elected nominees represent 39 cultural destinations from 21 countries who will compete to win the prestigious accolades which will be announced during the last quarter of the year at the “Oscars for Museums” awards ceremony. The 6-month digital-first campaign will accomodate online visitors the chance to explore the places they will want to visit in the future and enable destinations to reach those audiences.

Reflecting the Amiri Diwan of Kuwait’s vision for the country to become a cultural hub within the region and beyond, Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre is renowned today, as a world-class museum district that celebrates Kuwaiti, Islamic and Arab culture and history. Since its inauguration in 2018, the centre has embraced and showcased the rich diversity of the world’s finest cultural achievements, with the scale, shapes and shades of the buildings designed to convey a sense of wonder and intrigue. The Centre has since, facilitated the exchange of knowledge and continues to promote critical, creative, and interpretive thinking within Kuwaiti society through world-class exhibitions and educational public programmes.

The LCD Berlin Awards nominees are shortlisted by a team of LCD ambassadors, research and recommendations from the world's leading cultural experts. The winners are selected by an esteemed international jury.

The LCD Berlin Awards for 2021 feature 13 awards across the following sections; New Culture Destinations of the Year (with five categories); Digital Destinations of the Year (with three categories) Soft Power Destination of the Year (with one category); Climate Smart Award (with one category); and Travellers'' Awards (with three categories).
