Shapoorji Pallonji International (SPINT) highlights internal productivity improvement initiatives as key component in the progress made on its $62 million tower project in Dammam.
Shapoorji Pallonji International's (SPINT) productivity improvement initiatives at the Al Abdul Karim Holding Tower, has significantly contributed to the project's progress according to a statement from the company.
The 40 storey commercial building, which is due to be handed over to the eponymous owner next year, remains on course to be delivered in June 2016, in part thanks to SPINT's emphasis on creating in-house productivity improvement initiatives and training programmes on site.
Commencing work in January 2014, SPINT's scope of work includes the execution of civil, structural, architectural and finishing work in 30 months, completing a total built up area of around 57,000 square metres.
"Understanding the challenge of scarcity of skilled manpower in the region, the need for special emphasis on productivity enhancement was realized and acted upon in a timely manner," explained SPINT's chief executive officer and managing director, M.D Saini.
The in-house 'Productivity enhancement training modules' deployed by SPINT, across its projects includes a wide range of areas, covering all technical aspects of health & safety. SP Group has a dedicated company named Shapoorji Pallonji Consulting Services (SPCS), which provides productivity enhancement and skill upgrade training to its workers at the projects.
Citing other challenges on AKH project, Mr. Saini commended the innovation and technical ability of some of the project's subcontractors.
One example highlighted was Austrian formwork specialists Doka, whose self-climbing core wall helped to deliver the tower's core walls to a high standard while maintaining the pace of the project.
The AKH tower's design has been described as 'aesthetically commanding' and will feature 27 levels for official use, seven podium levels for parking and a show room on the ground floor.
