Riffa, Bahrain: Royal University for Women (‘RUW”), the kingdom’s first private university accredited by the Higher Education Council (HEC), has announced that in support of the kingdom’s drive to safely bring students studying abroad home, it will  waive both the application fee and registration fees. The University is also providing a 30% discount on the Summer semester tuition fees for students studying abroad who have chosen to return to Bahrain and the GCC during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The announcement comes in support of the recent directives by HRH the Prime Minister to develop a rapid a plan to evacuate Bahraini students stranded abroad and ensure their safe return home.

Commenting on the supporting incentives, Acting President of the University, Dr. David Stewart, said: “It is a very difficult time for GCC students. Students studying abroad and returning home may be uncertain of returning to their studies overseas, while students that were planning to study abroad in the next academic year may also be reconsidering their plans and looking for options closer to home.”

He added: “In these uncertain times, we want to make things easier for all GCC students. We want to give them what they initially wanted when they went abroad – an international degree– as well as ease the financial burden during the transition.  RUW offers students a real American degree, and for students returning from other countries, such as the UK, they can still receive an international degree from a highly accredited institution. We have a special Transfer Articulation Partnership with West Virginia University (WVU) so our students can complete of 1, 2, or 3 years at RUW and then have the option of transferring to WVU in the United States of America with 100% of their credits, to graduate with an American Degree.”

“We provide our students with global experiences in a safe and nurturing environment, offering a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programmes through our College of Business and Financial Sciences, College of Art and Design, College of Law, and Center for General Studies,” Dr. Stewart explained.

“Students who transfer to our university, even from local and regional universities, this Summer will receive 30% discount on tuition fees, and can take advantage of the world class facilities and amenities at our purpose-built campus. We are a self-contained city with accommodation, student center, lecture halls, labs, design studios, library, a nurse’s clinic, prayer room, cafeterias- including a Starbucks- a variety of restaurants, a mini market and a salon. We strive to provide students with a global university experience that is designed to develop and educate aspiring women leaders,” he concluded.
