RAK National Hotels and Hilton Worldwide in closing stages of multi-million dirham refurbishment

Ras Al Khaimah, UAE – RAK National Hotels (“RAKNH”), a subsidiary of RAK Hospitality Holding (“RAKHH”), an integrated hospitality asset owner and manager, and Hilton Worldwide today announced that Hilton’s first mid-market hotel in Ras Al Khaimah is scheduled to open by Q2 2017. The announcement was confirmed ahead of the 2016 Ras Al Khaimah Finance and Investment Forum (RAKFIF), which will take place on the 13th and 14th of December.

Hilton Garden Inn Ras Al Khaimah is to be located on the site of the former Hilton Ras Al Khaimah, which closed last January 2015 to allow a multi-million dirham refurbishment project. The property will feature 240 guest rooms, an extensive conference and events facility, a restaurant, lounge/bar and pool deck.

Representatives from both Hilton and RAKHH will address the annual event tomorrow, where the diversification of the Emirate’s hospitality offering to cater to the under supply in the mid-market segment, is set to feature highly on the agenda.

Commenting on the progress of the project, Yannis Anagnostakis, Chief Executive Officer at RAKHH, said: “The Hilton Garden Inn is a perfect fit for RAKNH as it strategically diversifies its portfolio to enter the underserved ‘mid-market segment’. The new revamped hotel is expected to meet the needs of the modern traveller who is shifting towards valuing experiences offered by the destination and the feeling of being connected. The new asset will preserve the long-standing charm and legacy of the previous ‘Hilton Ras Al Khaimah’, which was key in placing Ras Al Khaimah on the global map and has witnessed significant success since its launch in 2001.”

Mahmoud Mokhtar, Country Manager, Ras Al Khaimah, Hilton Worldwide added: “Hilton has a proud history in Ras Al Khaimah going back over 15 years. We were one of the first international groups to spot the potential of this Emirate and now we’re continuing to move ahead of the pack by evolving our portfolio to satisfy the destination’s growing demand for mid-market accommodation. Our team is working hard towards an expected opening date of Q2 next year and we look forward to welcoming our first Hilton Garden Inn guests soon.”
