Doha, Qatar: – The Qatar Finance and Business Academy, has announced the appointment of Dr. Khalid Mohammed Al-Horr as the entity’s Chief Executive Officer.

Prior to joining the QFBA, Dr. Al Horr served as Director of Higher Education at the Ministry of Education and Higher education where he was responsible for setting strategic goals and helping establish policies, procedures, and programs to carry out.

Yousuf Mohamed Al-Jaida, Chief Executive Officer, QFC Authority commented on the appointment stating: “I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Khalid Mohammed Al-Horr as Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA), and I am confident that his extensive experience will help us meet the QFC's development goals aimed at helping youth education.”

He continued: “QFBA benefits fresh graduates to senior executive professionals in essential financial disciplines within the sectors of banking, asset management, capital markets and insurance. Its efforts to increase capacity and support the creation of financial services expertise across the financial sector of Qatar has been a vital component to our contribution to the Human Development pillar of QNV 2030.”

Commenting on this occasion, Dr. Khalid Mohammed Al-Horr, CEO of Qatar Finance and Business Academy, stated: “I would like to express my deepest gratitude in joining this distinguished academic edifice and I would like to further extend my sincere gratefulness and appreciation to the board members for placing their valuable trust in me. I look forward to my new role as the CEO, in contributing towards the academy’s mission to proactively build and develop the future generation of skilled and talented Qatari youth and executives by enhancing their knowledge and capability to lead the finance and business sector. Thus, leading to the evolution and growth of a knowledge-based national economy, and contributing effectively to the achievement of the Qatar National Vision 2030. I am profoundly honored to be working closely with a strong and experienced senior management and team to build on past successes and on the remarkable achievements of the Qatar Finance and Business Academy over the years.”

During his time at the Ministry of Education and Higher education, Dr Al Horr managed the scholarships of almost 3000 students in over 300 institutions across 20 countries. He also led the development of the Community College of Qatar to offer bachelor degrees. As part of his role, he successfully negotiated with international counter partners to renew their agreements with Qatar, such as the CAN-Q agreement, and University of Calgary-Qatar agreement.

Dr Khalid Al Horr received his Ph.D. in Management and Human Resource Management from the University of Leeds where he also received an MA in Human Resource Management.

Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA), recently announced the launch of Northumbria University, UK in Qatar to offer degrees in Accounting, Finance & Investments and International Banking that have been approved by Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
