HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC) visited the city of Yerevan, capital of the Republic of Armenia on Saturday, March 15th, 2008 in response to an official invitation from the country's President H.E. Robert Kocharian.
Upon his arrival, Prince Alwaleed and accompanying delegation headed to the Presidential Palace to meet the President of Armenia. The President cordially greeted and welcomed Prince Alwaleed, and thanked him for accepting his invitation. A meeting was held following the reception during which President Kocharian and Prince Alwaleed discussed matters related to the economy of their respective countries. Also, a number of social issues and investment opportunities in Armenia were part of the subjects discussed. HRH then met with H.E. Serzh Sargsyan, Prime Minister of Armenia and President-Elect who will take power next month.
Armenia is a landlocked country in the southern Caucasus, located between the Black and Caspian Seas, the country is bordered on the north and east by Georgia and Azerbaijan, and on the south and west by Iran and Turkey. The Armenian economy heavily relies on investment and support from Armenians abroad. Armenian mines produce copper, zinc, gold and lead.
Prince Alwaleed's next visit on the same day was the city of Tbilisi, capital of the Republic of Georgia. The visit was in response to an official invitation from the country's President H.E. Mikheil Saakashvili. The trip began with a meeting between the President of Georgia and Prince Alwaleed at the Presidential Palace. The President cordially greeted and welcomed Prince Alwaleed, and thanked him for accepting his invitation. A meeting was held following the reception during which President Saakashvili and Prince Alwaleed discussed matters related to the economy of their respective countries. Also, a number of social and investment issues that pertain to both countries and investment opportunities in Georgia were part of the subjects discussed. After concluding the meeting, H.E. President Saakashvili and the First Lady of Georgia held a dinner ceremony in honor of Prince Alwaleed and His Highness's wife. Furthermore, during the trip HRH met with H.E. Valdimer Gurgenidze, Prime Minister of Georgia.

Moreover, gold, silver, copper and iron have been mined in the mountains of Georgia. Georgia's main imports are natural gas, oil products, machinery and parts, and transport equipment.
