Dubai , UAE - Nikki Beach Resort & Spa Dubai hosted a group of students from GEMS Wellington International School for a beach safety activity, as part of the Blue Flag environmental activities.
Eighteen students participated at the event of ages between 11 and 14 years. The activity was action oriented in order to create awareness about beach safety and the importance of the role of lifeguards. Students have learned how to work alongside lifeguards, while educating them to recognize the dangers and safety procedures necessary to guard the public. The lifeguards have demonstrated rescue techniques, first aid and basic life safety training.
The parents have accompanied the children and were invited after the event to sample a bites from the hotel Key West pop-up.
Speaking about the initiative, GEMS Wellington International School Assistant Headteacher, Nicholas Bruce, said “Working in collaboration with Nikki Beach Resort & Spa on their Beach Safety program has been a fantastic experience for our school and students. Living in Dubai means water safety is of paramount importance, and the students learnt a lot about how to stay safe on the beach, as well as how to help those who might be in need of assistance. Nikki Beach Resort & Spa have been an excellent partner in this program and we look forward to working with their team on future projects.”
