Under the patronage H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and President of Abu Dhabi University's Board of Trustees, Abu Dhabi University celebrated yesterday (23rd April) the graduation of 769 undergraduate and postgraduate students of its sixth graduating. The ceremony was inaugurated by H.E Sheikh Nahayan Bin Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Vice-President of Abu Dhabi University's Board of Trustees, in the presence of Sheikh Hazaa Bin Hamdan, Sheikh Yas Bin Hamdan, Sheikh Shakboot Bin Nahayan, H.E Dr. Maitha Al-Shamsi UAE Minister of State, H.E Dr. Mugheer Al-Khaili, Director General of Abu Dhabi Education Council, H.E. Humaid Moh'd Al Qutami, Minister of Education and H.E Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri Chairman of Abu Dhabi University's Executive Board.
During his speech, H.E Sheikh Nahayan Bin Mabarak Al Nahayan stressed that this renewed annual ceremony allows us to celebrate the hard work and efforts of Abu Dhabi University's sixth graduating cohort. It also gives us the opportunity to highlight the wise guidance of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and Ruler of Abu Dhabi and his directives on the importance of offering our students the quality of education that realizes the UAE's aspirations and allows them to participate in national development.
His Excellency added: Today, we also celebrate Abu Dhabi University achievements. The University has responded to the needs of national development, and offered a wide variety of specializations and programs in both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Abu Dhabi University has proven its success in a short period through commitment and credibility, in all its work, activities and events. In its advancement, it represents a vital addition to the field of higher education, in our nation. Abu Dhabi University's journey is a genuine result, of the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and President of Abu Dhabi University's Board of Trustees. H.H Sheikh Hamdan has always been keen on maintaining Abu Dhabi University's level at the highest degree of quality and efficiency, through interacting positively with the needs and requirements the UAE's community, contributing to the development of a knowledge-based economy, and keeping up with the rapidly evolving world around us. I am pleased and honored, to extend my sincere gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his patronage of this graduation, and his sincere encouragement of Abu Dhabi University's advancement and growth.
His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan explained that the UAE has achieved great successes in different fields, which transformed it into a model of a prominent and leading country that shows pride in its citizens, government, leaders, and achievements. These attributes have been confirmed by H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and Ruler of Abu Dhabi in his keenness in the development our human capital, as the basis of advancement of our country, and the growth of its institutions, and even the prosperity of individuals as well as the well-being of the community. We take this opportunity to extend our gratitude and appreciation to His Highness for his continuous support of all higher education institutions, including of course: Abu Dhabi University. As we foresee that, the University will always remain a living example of commitment, and a symbol of prominent contribution to the process of human development. It is also an honor on this occasion, to convey our sincere gratitude to H.H. Lieutenant General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces for his strong support to Universities and Colleges in the UAE.
Giving the commencement address on behalf of the graduating class, Ahmad Rashed AlMuhairi a graduate from Abu Dhabi University's College of Business Administration said: "We are proud of the knowledge that the University has provided us with, not only in classrooms and labs, but also through internship opportunities and training with business institutions in Abu Dhabi and the UAE. We are also proud of the skills we have developed at this University of national repute, which embodies hope and a bright future, taking us towards an education that keeps pace with modernity and interacts with new technologies and sciences. Abu Dhabi University is, and always will be, committed to fostering a learning environment that is in line with the highest international standards, making the learning process a model for multiculturalism, multi-intellectuality and cultural interaction and communication among values and traditions across the world".
"We recognize the magnitude of our responsibility in serving our beloved nation and understand our personal contributions to return a small share of the favors that were bestowed upon us. Before you sits a class of outstanding graduates whom this university supported, shaped and provided with the skills of leadership, preparing them for engagement in the labor market immediately upon graduation. These graduates, who have been educated in accordance with international standards which combine theory and practice, are qualified to increase the rates of production in the institutions they are destined to work in", concluded Al Muhairi.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, H.E Sheikh Nahayan Bin Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Vice-President of Abu Dhabi University's Board of Trustees presented the graduates with their degrees, wishing them success in all their endeavors.
