Muscat, As a step towards fulfilling Sultanate's commitment to e-governance, Majan Electricity Company (MJEC) and theInformation Technology Authority (ITA)jointly launched the first-ever tender over the newly launched portal for e-tenders. The launch was held in the presence of Eng. Abdullah Al Nawfali, CEO of Majan Electricity Company.
The event is a crucial step for the Information Technology Authority (ITA) towards implementingthe e-governance program in the country.
The entire e-tendering process is actually quite simple. The tender gets initiated when you enter details like type of tender, the work requested, the length of time, deadline, activities involved etc., and submit it on the portal. It allows the registered companies to purchase the tender documents. Once a company buys the documents, it can present their proposal within the specified timeframe. The portal even allows companies to be able to chat, negotiate and ask questions about the tender.
The e-tender portal contains a database of more than 4,000 registered companies that comply with the tender board rules. Majan Electricity Company is one of the first organizations to have worked on the program right from the beginning. MJEC strives to use technology to improve working standards and achieve global standards in customer service, digital archiving, asset management, tendering and other services.
The e-portal is a secure and safe platform that allows contractors and companies to gain information and access the tender details. The system brings about transparency and fairness in awarding tenders while reducing human errors the portal will also reduce human errors and decrease the time taken to award tenders. It also means it will now be easy to follow up on tender and reporting structure will be simpler.
