Around 170 market inspections conducted since the beginning of Ramadan
Abu Dhabi, 13 June 2016
The Ministry of Economy conducted today (Monday, June 13, 2016) an inspection of the central vegetable, fruit, and meat market in Fujairah as part of its month-long visits to monitor markets during Ramadan.
Dr. Hashim Al Nuaimi, Director of the Ministry's Consumer Protection Department, conducted the inspection with the participation of representatives from the Fujairah Municipality and the Ministry's office in Fujairah and in the presence of various local media members.
Dr. Al Nuaimi emphasized the importance of using the new labels approved by the Ministry of Economy which show the price, type, and source of items along with other information for buyers to consider before making purchases.
He further revealed that as of today, the Ministry of Economy has conducted around 170 unannounced and declared inspections of the country's various markets and will make a total of 400 visits until the end of the holy month.
At the end of the visit, Dr. Al Nuaimi confirmed that vegetables and fruit prices at the market are stable. He added that the prices of some goods have been reduced due to increased imports and rising availability at the Dubai market which serves as the main supply center for the market of the Emirate of Fujairah and other markets.
