Amman, Jordan: Under the patronage of H.R.H. Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MoDEE), in partnership with the World Bank Group, will hold a webinar on November 17, entitled, “Jordan’s Qualified IT Talents.” This virtual seminar will highlight the Kingdom’s incredible potential in the ICT sector, including its enormous talent pool, reliable ICT infrastructure, and attractiveness as an investment destination.
The online event will be attended by H.R.H. the Crown Prince; H.E. Ahmad Hanandeh, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship; Ferid Belhaj, World Bank Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa; and representatives from the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan (AmCham-Jordan), the Information and Communication Technology Association of Jordan (int@j), and numerous high-profile local and international companies and venture capital investors. The webinar is slated to include a special presentation from Amazon, as well as a panel discussion featuring some of the Kingdom’s leading business process outsourcing (BPO) and information technology outsourcing (ITO) companies: Aspire, Webhelp, Estarta Solutions, and Crystel.
The webinar will also provide its virtual attendees with a first look at Jordan Source, a new initiative led by MoDEE, which aims to promote regional and international investments in Jordan’s BPO and ITO industries, by facilitating and streamlining the investor journey. Over the last several years, the Kingdom’s ICT sector has proven its strength and resilience, witnessing impressive growth even in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic: during last year’s lockdown alone, hundreds of new jobs were created in the BPO/ITO industry. Already, Jordan has become a popular destination for multinational ICT companies like Amazon, Expedia, and Cisco Systems. Ultimately, Jordan Source will work to further capitalize on these strengths, offering companies a wealth of wide-reaching support as they establish and scale up operations in the country.
Jordan Source falls under the umbrella of MoDEE’s Youth, Technology, and Jobs (YTJ) project, which was launched in 2019 with the support of the World Bank Group, with the goal of expanding government e-services and increasing job opportunities in the digital economy.
