Jeddah, Saudi Arabia - SAIC Motor and Taajeer Group have announced the return of the MG brand to Saudi Arabia with immediate effect.

At a special ceremony to announce the new partnership between international car manufacturer SAIC Motor and Saudi automotive services company, Taajeer Group, it was confirmed that MG is returning to the Kingdom with a refreshed new line-up of models aimed at meeting the demands of today’s modern motorists.

Taajeer Group will introduce the new model line-up of sedans and SUVs that will go on sale across a number of dealerships in the eastern, western and central regions of the Kingdom. Taajeer Group will also be providing an array of services for new and existing customers of the rejuvenated MG brand. As part of its ‘one stop shop’ business model, the Taajeer Group will oversee new car sales, servicing, finance packages and leasing deals.

Mr. Matt Lei, Vice President SAIC Motor International, flew in from China for the ceremony where he was joined by Mr. Tom Lee, Managing Director for the Middle East. Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Matt Lei said: “Taajeer Group was the natural choice for us as a retail partner in Saudi Arabia; the automotive knowledge they possess, and quality and efficiency of the service they offer, is unrivalled. We are experiencing positive growth globally, and view Saudi Arabia as a very important market for MG. Together with Taajeer we are dedicated to delivering the highest levels of customer satisfaction through our innovative product range and customer experience.”

The launch ceremony, was hosted by Taajeer Group Chairman, Dr. Saleh Jameel Malaikah. Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Malaika said: “This is a major step for the Taajeer Group. After an intensive study of the Saudi market and the acceptance of the brand and its great products, we feel that MG is in a strong position to compete with other manufacturers in the Kingdom. The MG brand will be an extension of our automobile sector and services which will continue to bring success to the group at a local and regional level.”

This year SAIC Motor, MG’s parent company, was listed in the Forbes Fortune 500 list for the 13th consecutive year, ranking #41 overall and 7th amongst all global automakers – the highest ever ranking for SAIC Motor. With global sales revenues of $113.86 billion last year the company is investing heavily in the MG brand. This year will see the introduction of two brand-new models for the Middle East – the ZS and RX5 – as well as a refreshed new design for the GS model.

Taajeer Group was established in 1997 as a limited liability company offering leasing solutions. It became the first company to provide this service, successfully, in the local market, and later became a closed joint stock company. The group is currently operating in many fields in the automotive sector, including: daily rental, financing and leasing solutions, auto sales, spare parts, and maintenance, accomplished through cooperation and strategic partnerships with many international trademarks in the automotive sector.
