(Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: MG Motor has opened its first showroom in Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with its retail partner Taajeer Group, allowing the famous British car brand to bring its new model line up to its Saudi customer base. To mark the opening of the showroom in Jeddah, and MG Motors’ return to the Kingdom, the brand unveiled its new MG ZS crossover at a special ceremony held on 20th November.

The ceremony was hosted by Mr. Mat Lei, Vice President SAIC Motor International, and Taajeer Group Chairman, Dr. Saleh Jameel Malaikah. They were joined by Mr. Tom Lee, Managing Director SAIC Motor Middle East, Taajeer Group Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Omer Mohammed Hind, and COO Eng. Hazm Sami Jamjoom. The new showroom, which is located on Madina Road in Jeddah is 2000 sqm and will accommodate the bestselling models the MG360, the MG GS and the all-new MG ZS.

The launch of the MG ZS crossover in the Kingdom marks an exciting new era of design for the iconic brand, representing a major change and commitment to a new design philosophy. Based on ‘Emotional Dynamism’, the MG ZS embodies a more expressive design language that emphasises the premium experience and commitment to quality of the ambitious brand.

Commitment to design excellence is continued in the interior of the MG ZS, with touches that nod to a dynamic and exclusive space for the driver, while being accessible and user-friendly for any passengers. The interior features soft materials with a colour contrast from the dark grey base to create a layered effect. A trend for ‘bigger’ connectivity means 8” infotainment screens will become a signature of MG going forward, as it looks to target a younger generation.

Speaking at the showroom opening, Taajeer Group Chairman, Dr. Saleh Jameel Malaikah said: “While MG is already a familiar brand name in Saudi Arabia, the re-launch of MG in the region will introduce the Saudi market to a fresh new line up. Working closely with MG we will look to open further showrooms across the country, expand the sales and after-sales networks and deliver the highest level of customer service to current and potential customers in Saudi Arabia.”

This year SAIC Motor, MG’s parent company, was listed in the Forbes Fortune 500 list for the 13th consecutive year, ranking #41 overall and 7th amongst all global automakers – the highest ever ranking for SAIC Motor. With global sales revenues of $113.86 billion last year the company is investing heavily in the MG brand.

Taajeer Group was established in 1997 as a limited liability company offering leasing solutions. It became the first company to provide this service, successfully, in the local market, and later became a closed joint stock company.
