Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Residents and visitors alike have won amazing prizes during the dazzling Diwali festivities organised by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE). This year’s Diwali celebrations saw a total of 35 lucky winners walk away with life-changing gold rewards as part of the City of Gold Diwali Glow raffle and the Shop and Win Gold campaign.
The two mega raffles, which ran for a little over two weeks, were spearheaded by the Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group (DGJG) and the Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG) respectively. The lucky ones who made it big at the City of Gold Diwali Glow are Anan Khan,Srishti Tiwani, Geeta Dhanani, and Yasir Munam, Ulzal Hussein, and Zahidul Islam. Those who struck gold during the Shop and Win Gold raffle include Frino Rebelo, Karl Sausman, and Lydia David.
Hussain, Egyptian male, winner of Shop and Win Gold Raffles by DSMG said “I can’t believe I won, it’s my first time ever entering a competition, my wife and I were shopping at Dubai Outlet Mall and decided to try our luck - I’m so happy that we did!”
Fatema, Emirati female, another winner of Shop and Win Gold Raffles by DSMG said “I was over the moon when I got the news, finally I’m a winner. I’ve been trying to win anything for so many years, my plan is to sell the prize and donate the money to help those in need.”
Resmi, Indian male, winner of the City of Gold Diwali Glow Raffle by DGJG said “I’m so happy to win this prize, my wife’s birthday is coming up soon and now, the gift is all sorted.”
Senhil, Indian male, another winner of the City of Gold Diwali Glow Raffle by DGJG said “It’s my wife and I’s 10th anniversary and there’s no better way to celebrate it than with this prize - we’re so happy to have won something this big.”
The City of Gold Diwali Glow has been one of the most popular draws during the Diwali celebrations. Organised by the Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group (DGJG), the raffle ran from 21 October and gave visitors a chance to win AED150,000 in jewellery vouchers. By spending AED500 or more at any of the participating jewellery outlets, shoppers became eligible for a raffle coupon. On the final day of the event, 15 winners were chosen through a lucky dip and they all won jewellery vouchers worth AED10,000.
Other enticing offers during City of Gold Diwali Glow included a mega saving on diamond jewellery (up to 75 per cent off), free gifts on various purchases and a no 'making charge' on select items.
The Shop and Win Gold campaign, which also ran from 21 October until the end of Diwali Festival and was organised by the Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG), attracted scores of people. Buyers earned digital raffle coupons when shopping for AED200 at the participating malls, and a grand raffle took place on the final day, 6 November, where 20 winners got their hands on 20 gms of 24-carat gold each.
