Marsh, a global leader in insurance broking and risk management, has recruited 40 future leaders from 19 countries – including 16 Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals – for its 2019 Graduate Program in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Across the eight MENA countries in which Marsh has offices, the annual intake of graduates has increased eightfold, from five graduates in 2016 to 40 in 2019. This year’s graduates come from a range of diverse ethnic backgrounds and educational establishments, including local universities such as Zayed University, Dubai Women’s College, Higher Colleges of Technology Dubai, and American University in Sharjah.
The graduates, who will be based across eight MENA offices, form part of Marsh’s long-term vision to attract and develop Marsh’s next generation of leaders in the region.
Christos Adamantiadis, CEO, Middle East and Africa, Marsh, said: “As the world and the risk landscape continues to evolve, our ‘grow your own’ Graduate Program enhances our local and cultural understanding of the MENA region, its economy, and its people. We aim to deliver unparalleled value and service to clients through our deep risk expertise and specialty capabilities; embracing young talent at a local level is key to achieving this.”
Marsh has been actively promoting the benefits of local talent development as part of the UAE 2021 vision to offer Emiratis career opportunities and personal development programs, encouraging them to join the private sector. As a result, four Emirati nationals have joined Marsh’s 2019 Graduate Program.
Amna Al Shamsi, HR Emiratization Leader, Marsh, added: “At Marsh we believe in making a difference in the moments that matter in people’s lives and actively supporting the communities we are part of. Developing and investing in local UAE talent showcases our commitment to the nation.
“The insurance industry faces a significant challenge in attracting the best available talent. The Marsh Graduate Program, which we started in 2016 with a “grow our own” strategy, aims to develop Marsh’s next generation of leaders by giving graduates the opportunity to accelerate their career with a global leader within the dynamic insurance and risk management profession.”
