Kuwait: On Tuesday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, accompanied by the Ambassador of Turkey in the State of Kuwait, H.E. Ms. Ayşe Hilal Sayan Koytak, visited the New Kuwait Airport Terminal 2 (T2) construction site to monitor the progress carried out by the Turkish company Limak.
H.E. the Minister and H.E. the Ambassador were welcomed by key representatives from the Turkish company including Limak CEO and Board Member Mr. Feyiz Genç and Limak İnşaat Kuwait S.P.C. Country Manager Mr. Kayihan Bagdatli, before undergoing a briefing session of the US$4.3 billion terminal project and US$559 million car park.
Established in 2016 through the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority under the Foreign Direct Investment Law, Limak İnşaat Kuwait S.P.C. is an independent subsidiary of Limak Holding, one of the leading conglomerates in Turkey and the world. The company is the contractor for Kuwait’s new state-of-the-art airport terminal (T2) and other development projects in the country.
The airport project is a key component of Kuwait’s National Development Plan and Vision 2035, “New Kuwait”, which stems from H.H. the late Amir H.H. Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s vision to transform Kuwait into a leading financial, commercial and cultural hub. Currently employing 40 Kuwaiti engineers and training over 70 female engineers as part of the company’s ‘Kuwait’s Engineer Girl’s Program’, Limak aims to add permanent value to society by supporting education and learning opportunities in the fields of construction, engineering, architecture, and project management.
Limak began contributing to Kuwait’s development projects in 2009 with the company’s first project, the Infectious Diseases Hospital, followed by the West Abdullah Al-Mubarak Housing project, the Kuwait International Airport T2 construction project including Package No. 2, South Abdullah Al-Mubarak Infrastructure Works, and the Al-Mutlaa Residential project (N11).
COVID-19 Measures
Since the advent of the pandemic, Limak has operated and will continue to do so in full compliance with regulations set by the Ministry of Health and other official government bodies in Kuwait. The company has implemented additional preventive safety precautions on-site and at offices, facilities, and support centers, all of which undergo daily monitoring and compliance checks in accordance with the directions of the Limak Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) team.

Through this program, Limak promotes environmental sustainability by offering seminars and workshops on clean energy and waste management to female students in Kuwait in addition to 200-hours of additional construction and project-related material. The first cohort of the program was successfully completed in March 2018 with 24 graduates, the second cohort was completed in April 2019 with 30 graduates, and the third cohort was completed in December 2019 with 25 graduates.
