Bahrain: KPMG in the region is finalizing preparations for the Middle East and South Asia (MESA) Family Business Conference, set to take place on 10 February 2020 at the Ritz Carlton hotel in Dubai. The event will be held this year under the theme “driving growth through innovation and excellence” to offer insight on the latest trends and challenges facing family business groups in the region. Attendees will also gain insight from subject matter experts who own, work for or work with family businesses.
Family enterprises account for a major share of businesses across the region in most industries. Having worked with family owned enterprises across the region, business families have the challenge of planning a handover from one generation to the next. This conference will be beneficial for owners of family owned businesses, younger generation family members stepping into leadership positions and directors or senior management of family-owned companies.
Harish Gopinath, Head of Family Business & Enterprise for KPMG Middle East and South Asia commented on the upcoming event: “We are excited to host this successful event for the fourth consecutive year. Each year, at least 100 members of prominent Family businesses in the region come together to gain further insights on the market challenges and on how to grow their operations in current economic conditions. Prioritizing governance and succession planning are also critical to shaping the future of their business, which will also be showcased during the conference.”
The one-day conference will feature a keynote presentation and interactive workshops moderated by Tom McGinness, Global Co-Chair for Family Business for KPMG, and
Randel Carlock, Professor in Entrepreneurial Leadership and Founding Director of the Wendel International Centre for Family Enterprise at INSEAD. The workshops and panel discussions will cover the following areas: leadership development, strategy and business governance, KPMG Family Business Survey, innovative organizations, succession planning, new technologies and how they impact growth.
Family business owners and leaders from the Gulf region and the wider Middle East and South Asia regions are expected to attend the event, which provides the ideal opportunity for networking and knowledge-sharing.
