Kuwait City - KIPCO – the Kuwait Projects Company (Holding) – and its Group companies are supporting the 2017 Gulf Studies Symposium, organized by the Center for Gulf Studies at the American University of Kuwait. The event, themed ‘Mobilities & Materialities of the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula’, will be held on 17-19 March at the university campus.

The biennial symposium, which is being held for the third time, provides a platform for regional and international scholars to discourse on timely research contributions that are particular to both the region and the field of Gulf studies. This year, the focus is on the movement of people into, out of, across, and within the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula in historical and contemporary contexts, and the various material forms that enable, restrict, or are produced by these mobilities.

Ms Eman Al Awadhi, KIPCO’s Group Communications Director, said:

“We are delighted to continue to support the Center for Gulf Studies’ efforts in organizing an international academic conference of such scale. This event is an ideal platform for scholars to contribute and add value to the growing field of Gulf studies. As part our Group approach, KIPCO encourages its companies to leverage opportunities to work on corporate citizenship projects. Burgan Bank, Gulf Insurance Group, KAMCO Investment Company and United Real Estate are the lead contributors to this important meeting.”

This year’s symposium was developed in collaboration with the George Washington University's Institute for Middle East Studies in Washington, DC, as part of a broader project focusing on ‘Mobilities and Materialities of the Middle East’.
