On 16 October 2012, Mr. Tony Wilde, CEO / Global chairman and owner of International Standards worldwide awarded the prestigious ISO 9001:2008 and ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certifications to Ms.Pratima Kunhambu, Associate Director and Head of Department for Business Process Outsourcing (Risk Consulting) KPMG UAE in the presence of Mr. Sudarshan Mandyam, ISC (UAE) FZ LLC and Global Program Manager for IT related services worldwide. Also present were External consultants who helped and provided professional guidance to obtain the certifications - Mr. Kamal, Head of Delivery and Operations, Quadrant Risk Management Middle East and Mr.Manjunath R, Management Systems Consultant, Quadrant Risk Management Middle East.
Mr Tony Wilde, said that "ISC was delighted to have verified and certified KPMG to the international Quality Management System standard ISO 9001 in conjunction with international Information Security Management System ISO 27001". Mr Wilde added "for KPMG, putting in place the necessary processes and systems to ensure the quality and security of their client information is a great achievement and not easy to achieve. They have demonstrated leadership and commitment to taking the integrity of their information seriously". Mr Wilde emphasised that "9001 is not easy to implement, nor is it easy to maintain but the benefits of reduced errors are well worth the effort. Their voluntary decision to have it independently audited by International Standards Certifications is a tribute to their commitment to excellence."
Staff of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) department attended the ceremony and expressed delight at the dual certifications and committed to maintaining the Quality Management System and Information Security Management Systems.
Mr. Karl Hendricks, Partner, Risk Consulting - Lower Gulf, said that "the ISO guidelines are very important for BPO and receiving the certifications are a great achievement; ISO 9001 recognizes that our department ensures consistent quality of our services and ISO 27001 signifies the level and standard with which we as KPMG manage risk related to information security."
Pratima Kunhambu, Associate Director and Head of Department for BPO, was delighted to receive the certificates from Tony and said that "the credit goes to the team's immense dedication, commitment and hard work. We completely understand what the value of quality and timely deliverables mean to both - KPMG and our client."
ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management Systems) recognizes that the policies, practices and procedures of our department ensure consistent quality in the services we provide to our clients.
ISO 27001:2005 (Information Security Management Systems) recognizes the standards with which a business safeguards the confidentiality, integrity and availability of written, spoken and electronic information. It's the international standard for IT disaster recovery and business continuity that confirms the ability of a business to recover and protect the confidentiality and integrity of information and business activities.
Mr. Sudarshan Mandyam, Global Program Manager (ISC) UAE, said "KPMG's BPO had to build a management system that aligns simultaneously with ISO standards and KPMG's global best practices. The team have done a great job in doing this effectively and efficiently and have completed a path breaking task successfully".
The ISO certification audits were conducted by the International Standards Certifications (ISC) Pty. Ltd. Australia. The certification is issued by JAZ-ANZ, Australia.
