Dubai, UAE: As the Middle East is home to stellar examples of high rise buildings- from the world’s tallest tower to the world’s farthest leaning manmade tower- regulations and technologies to ensure fire safety and noise without compromising the design element is a key topic for architects and builders in the region. Technal, the market leader in the building systems sector, will host an industry discussion on April 2nd in Dubai on the challenges of creating human centric design for high rise buildings without compromising on safety factors and building regulations.
According to Sam Robinson, General Manager, Technal Middle East, “The UAE has been ranked third worldwide when it comes to the construction of super structures. In this age of super tall buildings, it is important to incorporate human centric design elements, at the same time adhering to safety regulations. After all we spend 90% of our time indoors inside buildings. The integration of technology, energy performance and safety factors with architecture is what makes buildings user centric. Window and curtain walling systems used should provide enhanced thermal performance and insulation qualities, and systems should have variable depths to accommodate different glass thicknesses for additional acoustic protection. Similarly, it is also important to provide visual consistency across any project, a high standard of aesthetics, and value for money. Our conference will examine how there can be a holistic design approach, bringing together architects, engineers, contractors and façade contractors to create architecturally integrated façade that is both aesthetic and functional.”
Technal Middle East has successfully installed façade solutions for several landmark buildings in the region including the United Tower, one of the tallest towers in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; The Dubai Design District (D3); The Address Sky Views; Burj Vista Towers in Dubai; and the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Headquarters Tower.
Ten experts will speak at the event that is supported by leading international manufacturers for high rise buildings such as AkzoNobel, Siderise and Trosifol. The event is further supported by the AIA Middle East (American Institute of Architects) and RIBA Gulf (Royal Institute of British Architects) – the leading representative association for global architects and designers in the Middle East.
At the one-day conference, Agnes Koltay, Director of Koltay Facades, will highlight how the stunning iconic facades of buildings like Sky Views and Burj Views was achieved. Sreenivas
Narayanan, Façade Specification and Compliance Officer at Siderise will give a global perspective for the control of the fire development and noise across façade systems.
Bjorn Sanden, Market Development Manager EMEA, at Kuraray Europe will present how facades can enhance acoustic performance. Douglas Sum, Associate at Aurecon will share few façade tricks to make the building design more human centric.
Benjamin Beer, Director-Facades at Ramboll will focus on advanced façade engineering for high-rise buildings in the Middle East. The highlight of the event will be the most awaited global launch of Technal’s latest sliding system ‘TIGAL’ by Dr. Werner Jager, Technical Director, Hydro Building Systems, a world leading expert on aluminum system for windows and doors. ‘TIGAL’ sliding systems has been designed to beat the elements of Heat, Wind, Rain, Dust and maximize user comfort with large dimensions, protection against noise, maximize daylight gain and offering full or micro ventilation at ease.
The event will take place on April 2nd at Sofitel Downtown Dubai
