Cairo: Huawei Technologies Egypt, the world leader in information and communications technology solutions, signed a cooperation protocol with Misr El Kheir Foundation to provide vouchers for families and children, who are in need, so that they can buy new clothes to be able to celebrate “Eid El Fitr”. In fact, this initiative comes within the framework of Huawei's constant keenness to support all segments of the Egyptian society especially amid the perturbations of the Coronavirus pandemic, along with its economic repercussions.
The signing ceremony was attended by a group of Huawei and Misr El Kheir Foundation’s representatives, led by Vincent Sun, CEO of Huawei Egypt, Maben, General Director of Public Affairs and Communication at Huawei Egypt, Mohamed Abdel Rahman, Managing Director of Misr El Kheir Foundation, and Eng. Amal Mabdi, CEO of the Resource Development Sector at Misr El Kheir Foundation.
Within the framework of this cooperation, more than 2000 children who are in need will benefit, as each beneficiary (parents) will receive a voucher worth EGP 250, which can be redeemed from any Omar Effendi store or Al Nasr Center, which has stores all over Egypt.
In this context, Vincent Sun stated: “We are pleased with our cooperation with Misr El Kheir Foundation to support the Egyptian families, as well as bring happiness to their hearts in celebration of the blessed Eid El Fitr. This is stemming from the fact that for more than 20 years, Huawei has become an integral part of the fabric of the Egyptian people. Also, as a responsible investor in Egypt, we believe in the importance of our role and our responsibility in supporting the Egyptian society by all means and with whatever it takes. Additionally, and through these initiatives, we want to create solidarity and unification of efforts with the civil society institutions, with the aim of upholding the Egypt socially and economically.”
Sun added: "We at Huawei have taken upon ourselves the responsibility to spread the spirit of cooperation, in addition to strengthen the bonds of compassion in the community, in order to contribute to lessening the burden of life that a myriad of Egyptian citizens and families encounter and suffer from. Thus, Huawei has decided to provide these people with aid, and secure their basic needs, which includes the provision of new clothes, especially with the outbreak Coronavirus pandemic and its economic repercussions, which negatively affected many segments of the Egyptian society."
Regarding this cooperation, Mohamed Abdel Rahman had something to mention which is that the cooperation protocol with Huawei revolves around offering joy and happiness to the disadvantaged families, at large, and their children in particular by providing them with new clothes so that they can happily celebrate the Eid.
He also pointed out that providing Eid clothes for children of those families, who reside in a number of governorates, came as part of “Eftar Saaem” campaign, which is launched by Misr El Kheir Foundation for the ninth year in a row. He also explicated that the axis of providing the neediest families with clothes is implemented this year, unprecedentedly, through cooperation with a number of major companies and clothing stores, headed by Al Nasr Company.
For her part, Eng. Amal Mabdi expressed her happiness with the cooperation with Huawei, explaining that the protocol includes providing thousands of pieces of clothing to some indigent families, in a number of governorates. The provision of clothes will be carried out through vouchers that will be given to the beneficiary, who can then buy what they want according to their choice, taste, preference, and size from the determined stores and companies that were selected.
She also pointed out that this protocol is the first cooperation with Huawei, noting that it has been agreed to open many areas of cooperation between Misr El Kheir Foundation and Huawei, especially with regard to technology, communications, trainings for employment, education, and sectors that benefit society. She also explained that some representatives from Huawei have been invited to visit the Technological College of the Suez Canal University, which is supported by Misr El Kheir Foundation.
She concluded her words by saying that Huawei has also invited the officials of the Misr El Kheir Foundation and a number of students to visit the company's headquarters, and had them see for themselves the latest findings in the field of communications and information technology.
It is worth noting that this protocol is a continuation of the cooperation of Huawei and Misr El Kheir Foundation, which began several years ago, in the hope of proffering and sponsoring a number of Ramadan tents in order to provide food during the Holy month of Ramadan. Nevertheless, and through this new cooperation protocol, new ways of cooperation were discussed, which are pertinent to other projects that cement Huawei's belief in the importance of cooperation and creating synergies between the private sector and the civil society institutions.
