Huawei is joining hands with a myriad of prestigious Egyptian public and private universities

Cairo: Huawei Technologies, a leader in information and communication technology solutions, announced the launch of the "Huawei Academy" at the universities of 6^th of October and Zagazig and Luxor. In fact, this gesture came with the aim of introducing the company’s academic content, which is pertinent to its pioneering global program ICT Talent Bank. This program aims at developing the skills of the students enrolled in the Egyptian faculties, especially the ones that have to do with the Information and Communications Technology field. All of these endeavors were made to ensure the activation and continuation of digital transformation in accordance with Egypt's 2030 vision.

This cooperation comes within the framework of Huawei Technologies' plan to establish 62 academies, in the hope of spreading and teaching modern technologies at the Egyptian universities. In other words, Huawei aims, through this cooperation, to keep pace with the needs of the current era, as well as invest in young minds, starting from providing them with training programs, which are compatible with the needs of the labor market at the technical and personal level, ending with contributing to the provision of suitable local and regional job opportunities by activating communication between companies, whether operating in the telecommunications sector or not, and the graduates of the training program.

It is important to accentuate the fact that since the launch of the iTB program in October 2019, Huawei has trained 450 trainees, in addition to training more than 7,500 students, including 3,000 in communication and interconnectedness networks. Moreover, Huawei has been able to train 3330 students, along with 1277 other students in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cloud Computing respectively. Lastly, the number of Huawei’s established training centers has reached 77.

On this occasion, Dr. Gamal Sami, President of 6^th of October University, praised the cooperation with Huawei Technologies, by stating: "We are certainly elated with this fruitful partnership. Also, we are so proud to announce that 6^th of October University won first place among all Egyptian private and public universities for the second time in a row. Indeed, Huawei has provided training programs for more than 1500 students, including 350 students from public and private universities and some other students from different Arab countries.”

On this matter, Dr. Hisham Fawzi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Zagazig University, commented: “We are keen to improve the educational process by providing many technological solutions and various professional training in order to train and qualify the Egyptian youth. What was done is, definitely, in line with the requirements of the labor market, and this is what Huawei Technologies has provided to us. Meaning, there was a great turnout of students who chose to join the training programs, as the attendance rate reached 91%, and the percentage of the students who have passed reached 68%!”

Additionally, and commenting on the same topic, Dr. Mohamed Ramadan, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information at Luxor University, added that this cooperation aims at developing the education system in Egypt, in addition to making the most of Huawei’s global experience. Hence, this will result in reaching the desired goals of the educational content. To further expound, he mentioned that the general feature of competition, in all fields, has become contingent upon the ability of competitors to innovate and create, especially amid the digital transformation’s global trend. Therefore, it is an indispensable matter that other companies, working in the field of information and communication technology solutions, should follow in the footsteps of Huawei to empower youth and qualify them, so as to enhance the process of digitalization.

Last but not least, Engineer Yousry Atlam, CEO of Huawei Academy, said: “Huawei has always been keen on cooperating with all institutions to invest in the development of the human resources by linking students’ capabilities with the labor market, as well as merging the theoretical and the practical sides together to attend to the requirements of the labor market. Also, establishing Huawei Academies at 33 Egyptian universities came with regards to the state's plan to achieve comprehensive development. That is to say, the Huawei Academy provides various mechanisms in teaching, which aim at changing the old understanding of theoretical material, thus maximizing the added value of the Egyptian human resources.”

It is worth noting that the iTB program was launched in October 2019, and aims to develop the skills of the young generations in the Information and Communications Technology sector. In addition, Huawei Technologies Egypt has recently launched its virtual employment fair; “HiRE 2021” to develop the capabilities of young Egyptian cadres of university graduates in the Information and Communications Technology sector. Also, HiRE 2021 is affiliated with Huawei’s pioneering training program “ICT Talent Bank / iTB” “Capacity Bank”, and sponsored by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, together with the National Telecommunications Institute. One more praiseworthy thing to add is that this virtual employment fair has witnessed the participation of more than 40 major Egyptian and international companies and 1,200 iTB graduates.
