Dubai, UAE, March 1st, 2007: The three stars are none other than Khalid Al Mutawaa, Mohammed Al Abdoli and Thani Al Falasi, who have returned last week from France after an induction in motor sport training at the (FFSA) Auto Sport Academy.
Their claim to fame was made possible by HSBC Racing Academy in conjunction with Dubai Autodrome, who together identified, trained, sponsored and sent these young men on a mission to fire their engines.
These home grown racers were subjected to the gruelling vagaries of a hectic schedule, foreign tracks and inclement weather. Each one of them was trained to push their endurance, not to mention adrenalin to the limits, lap after lap.
When quizzed about the Auto Sport training experience, Khalid moves into gear: "Racing on one of the world's most prestigious tracks was beyond my wildest imagination, the kind of stuff that get Formula 1 drivers all charged up. I am now, more motivated than ever before to train hard and perform well this season"
Mohammed in his miles of smiles persona says, "I was able to raise my benchmark by fine honing my driving skills, under the able guidance of the HSBC Racing Academy Team Mentor and Trainer, Karting world champion and Dubai Autodrome Karting manager David Terrien. I am still in awe of the Le Mans 24 hours track."
HSBC and Dubai Autodrome are equally elated as their joint effort in spotting, training and grooming the young generation of UAE nationals are beginning to get recognised on the international racing circuit. The three, 2007 HSBC Racing Academy Drivers are set to return to France in April to participate in a full season of the 2007 Formula Campus Renault Elf Championship.
