Riyadh, March 29 -2005 -- HP (NYSE: HPQ) is running a series of events, called the HP Linux and Open Source Roadshow, which will stop in 20 countries throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and proved to be a major success in Riyadh on  March 23.  HP Saudi Arabia also used the occasion to jointly announce its number one position in the IDC Linux Server results based on the (IA32, IA64, RISC, CISC) market share, which shows growth of three hundred and sixty two percent and market share at 53%.

Aimed at informing customers and business partners about the latest Linux and Open Source strategy and product offerings, each event will provide deeper insight into how customers can benefit from migration to Linux on HP platforms, through improved business agility, increased RoIT and complete solutions based on industry standards.

Targeting senior business and IT decision-makers within enterprises, the roadshow events will offer a range of strategic sessions that focus on real-world customer experiences from the world's leading provider of Linux-based systems.

During the events, local customers will be given a platform to discuss their experiences in implementing Linux, overcoming the challenges involved, and the benefits of implementing Linux.

"Companies in the Middle East are starting to ask more about Linux, about its cost savings, low total cost of ownership, innate security, and high performance," says Abdullah Al Mohaisen, Managing Director, Saudi Arabia - HP Middle East. "The HP Linux Roadshow in Riyadh demonstrates how Linux is used in the real world, which solutions make sense to run on Linux, and what experiences companies in the regional markets are benefiting from.  HP's commitment to the Kingdom is demonstrated by its number one position in the latest IDC Linux Server results and impressive growth and market share figures,"

Each event will be supported by key HP industry partners, including Intel, JBoss, MySQL, Novell, Oracle, and RedHat. Together with these partners, HP will demonstrate how its enterprise-ready solutions deliver everything companies need to implement, deploy and manage their mission-critical infrastructures, both with commercial and open source applications.

At each roadshow event, attendees will be offered different tracks tailored to business and technical audiences, such as informative presentations and customer cases.

All the roadshow events will feature demonstrations from all attending vendors, giving attendees the opportunity to experience the value of a variety of Linux solutions. The key elements are the Linux Reference Architecture, the new Blade systems and the information on "BigTux", a program that allows Linux to scale up to 64cpus on a Superdome.
