Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Horizon English School (HES) has been promoted to the ‘Outstanding’ school category in the Knowledge and Human Development Authority’s (KHDA) recent inspections for the academic year 2018/2019.  The school has been recognised by the KHDA for its impeccable leadership, standard of teaching and learning, and its curriculum breadth.

The attainment of an ‘Outstanding’ rating is a coup for the academic institution as well as for its owners, Al Najah Education.

Headteacher, Mr. Ian Wallace, a young and dynamic primary education specialist who built his career at the school over the past six years, says: “To move up to an Outstanding rating is a wonderful testament to the combined efforts of our senior leadership team, teachers, support staff and of course the wider school community who have shown us tremendous support. At HES we are a primary only school focused on developing and nurturing well-rounded children with a strong moral foundation. We see the achievement of an Outstanding rating as a milestone, not an end goal, and will continue to work hand in hand with students, our parent community and Al Najah Education to provide an exciting and positive learning experience.”

Mr Raza Khan, CEO of Al Najah Education, says: “We are exceptionally proud of Horizon English School’s Outstanding rating this year, under our ambitious and dynamic new Headteacher. We continue to invest in this outstanding institution and will be opening a new one-of-a-kind STEAM facility in the next academic year, to give children access to the latest technology from a young age.”

The educators’ diligent efforts to develop the skills and aptitudes of pupils complement the wide curriculum breadth of Horizon English School - yet another area of strength highlighted by the KHDA. The school, specialists in EYFS education, offers a rich, imaginative and creative curriculum that encourages and develops every child’s natural curiosity and aspirations. To further enhance its curriculum, the new purpose built STEAM facility will expose primary age children to advanced technology such as 3D printing and robotics, and includes a specially designed creative learning zone that enables students to innovate and develop as they learn to cope with the modern world.

The school’s extra-curricular programme and strong sense of community were highly praised as key growth areas over the past year, further aiding the overall development of Horizon English School’s students and staff.  Since its establishment 30 years ago, the school’s community remains strongly focused on its students, supported by close working relationships with parents, to deliver the best learning outcome for them as individuals.
