Abu Dhabi: Emirates Park Zoo & Resort celebrated International hippo day to raise awareness for all the endangered hippopotamus around the world. The event was the perfect place for families to break free from their hectic lifestyle and enjoy the day with their loved ones in a vibrant atmosphere.
To commemorate the enormous river loungers, the zoo conducted seminars at the Hippo area, alongside the education team at the Zoo school. The initiative is to spread awareness to protect and support hippos who are primarily killed for their meat in certain parts of the world.
Vasundara Kariyawasam, Head of Education of Emirates Park Zoo, said, “We make it our best interest to educate the public on each and every animal we cater to at the zoo. With all the changes happening, it is very important to preserve and prevent all animals from extinction. To do so, we must make sure we provide all the care and love to each of our resident animals, to represent as ambassadors of the wild, as well as get the public involved.”
The dedicated team of Emirates Park Zoo also created posters on the awareness that were displayed all throughout the park.
