Dubai – United Arab Emirates - Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of the Dubai Health Authority, H.H. Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, Director General of Dubai Department of Information, inaugurated today the 17th edition of Dubai World Dermatology and Laser Conference and Exhibition (Dubai Derma 2017) at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. H.H. Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum Al Maktoum was accompanied with heads of international associations, delegations, and prominent dermatologists and specialists in the field.

Following the opening ceremony, H.H. Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum Al Maktoum took a tour in the exhibition area and visited various local and international companies that came to showcase their up-to-date technologies, latest skin care products and advanced equipment in the field of dermatology, laser, and plastic surgery. 

On the sidelines of the opening ceremony, Dr. Ibrahim Galadari, Professor of Dermatology at the UAE University, and Conference Chairman of Dubai Derma welcomed all of the reputable speakers and specialists who came from all over the world to participate in Dubai Derma. He said: “This year, we have dedicated three different halls for parallel scientific sessions. The conference will discuss new skin diseases, pathogens, new diagnoses and treatments, and it will present difficult cases divided into sessions for graduate doctors and specialists who have difficulty in diagnosing these cases.”

He continued on saying: “The scientific program was designed to enrich the participants knowledge with the latest scientific research and introduce them to the latest developments and techniques in the dermatological and laser field, where the scientific program will discuss many skin diseases including vitiligo, psoriasis, acne, allergies, skin cancer, as well as various cosmetic treatments. "

Dr. Galadari concluded by saying: “Dubai Derma exhibition fills the gap between theory and practice. On one hand, companies display cutting edge technologies and medical devices, and on the other hand participants get the chance to learn about these new technologies and apply the theories they get from the parallel conference, all for the goal of a better medical service.”

Dr. Abdul Wahab Al Fouzan, Secretary General of the Pan Arab League of Dermatology,said during his opening speech: “Over the last years, Dubai Derma has proven to be the annual international dermatology conference to go to. It has become the must-attend event to learn about the latest innovations and get up-to-speed on how to leverage new technologies in dermatology and laser.”

He continued on saying: “Dubai Derma has a great list of international speakers and participants from the entire spectrum of the dermatological sciences, who will lead the scientific sessions and training programs. The scientific programme will focus on the new uses for laser treatments, best practices for treating the changes that occur on the skin because of aging, hair loss, skin cancer, esthetic and cosmetic dermatology.”

He concluded: “Without doubt, Dubai Derma is a source of pride to the Arab countries. It maximizes scientific and practical benefits for attendees and brings participating doctors closer together in order to exchange different views and medical information. The unparalleled and innovative scientific programme covers a wide variety of topics that help in qualifying fresh graduates, postgraduates, as well as specialists and consultants for their periodic tests and helps them obtain CME points.”

From his side, Dr. Oumeish Oumeish, Secretary General of Dubai Derma and International Academy of Medical Specialisation said in his speech at the opening ceremony: “This meeting is important as it aims to encourage the development of dermatological sciences through innovative lectures and symposia, and enhancing personal and professional relationships between scientists from many countries. The scientific committee has developed an unparalleled and innovative programme for this meeting for a wide variety of topics that are core to medical, surgical and esthetic dermatology.”

Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman of Dubai Derma said: “The practice of Dermatology and Plastic surgery continues to be one of the rapidly growing specialties globally with incredible breakthroughs in skin care and laser technologies. Hence, the Dubai World Dermatology and Laser Conference and Exhibition – Dubai Derma showed countless development since it was launched 17 years ago.”

“During the past year, the scientific committee members have been actively engaged in a variety of partnerships and collaborations to develop the best scientific program that provides the latest in Dermatology and skin care. More than 276 speakers will share their state-of-the-art medical expertise with conference attendees. The scientific program for this year includes 157 scientific sessions, 72 number of workshops and 99 case studies.
