University lays down foundations for scientific research in Arab region

Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) has announced that 68 research papers and case studies submitted from all over the world were presented before high-level academics, experts, decision makers, government officials, and regional and international intellectuals at HBMSU Congress 2014. In line with UAE Vision 2021, the event held three parallel technical conferences on the culture of quality, the improvement of healthcare industry, and the transformation to smart learning. A huge number of learners from various universities across the UAE turned up for the congress organized under the theme 'Leading Transformation to Sustainable Excellence.'

During the Congress' '7th Quality Conference in the Middle East' held under the theme 'Towards a Sustainable Excellence: Leading a Successful Transformation,' participants tackled 120 work papers on service quality in different fields such as economics, healthcare, finance, and human resources. 33 of these research papers, scientific posters and case studies were prepared by HBMSU learners.

The second parallel technical discussion titled '6th Conference on eLearning Excellence in the Middle East ran under the theme 'Leadership, Design and Technology for 21st Century Learning.' It highlighted the challenges encountered during the dynamic process of smart learning. A total of 173 work papers were presented during the conference. 21 of these papers were submitted by HBMSU learners and others by learners from the US, Taiwan, Oman, the UK, and Belgium.

The third and last symposium, the '5th e-Health and Environment Conference in Middle East' held under the theme 'Transformation for Better Healthcare and Environment, discussed 106 work papers tackling individual and social health and healthcare industry development. 14 of these research papers, scientific posters and case studies were also prepared by HBMSU learners.

Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, Chancellor, commended the research papers that contribute to the advancement of the Arab region's modern scientific knowledge. "All papers submitted to this year's edition of the HBMSU Congress, including those done by learners from different countries, met the highest global standards. These research works are vital in enhancing the region's scientific knowledge, a major factor in achieving UAE Vision 2021. The congress also offered a successful interactive platform for leading researchers, scientists, intellectuals, and knowledge experts to raise the bar on scientific research which acts as a pillar of comprehensive and sustainable development."

"The three concurrent conferences offered an international forum to enrich knowledge and showcase the best practices and strategies for the sustainability of quality, health, environment and education in the MENA region. They also encouraged innovation and institutional and academic excellence while promoting health awareness and environmental protection as key factors for building a better future for the coming generations. The objectives of these conferences were in line with UAE Vision 2021's goal of making the country one of the world's top nations through the implementation of high-quality healthcare services and the adoption and promotion of smart learning," Al Awar concluded.

The HBMSU Congress 2014 also hosted a series of roundtable meetings and interactive workshops attended by leading scientists, researchers, academics, decision makers, high-level government officials, e-learning experts, business leaders, and representatives from international organizations. It served as a venue for participants to exchange visions, expertise, and ideas as well as showcase innovative initiatives aimed at achieving sustainable excellence.
