Abu Dhabi – His Excellency Engineer Hamad Ali Al Dhaheri, Undersecretary at the Department of Community Development in Abu Dhabi, said that at the outset the 50th National Day is a special occasion as it represents half a century since the unification of the seven emirates under one flag. At a deeper level, however, the occasion marks a milestone in the country’s journey of development and prosperity where the spirit of cooperation, empathy and understanding reign supreme.
“The founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed, along with his brothers, laid a solid foundation for our country. Their vision has been carried forward by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, who built on this foundation a nation that tells the story of an extraordinary journey towards advancement and collective prosperity,” H. E. Al Dhaheri said.
“Our leadership has proved that 50 years is long enough for a country to overcome any challenges as it drove the UAE forward through fundamental institutions of justice, equality, inclusivity and cooperation. There are few nations in the world as culturally diverse as ours, where people from virtually every country and culture live in harmony and collectively participate in the nation-building effort.”
H. E. Al Dhaheri thanked the country’s pragmatic leadership, who steered the nation to become one of the top destinations in the world to work, do business, live a quality life and achieve dreams and aspirations.
He also commended the UAE’s citizens and residents, who extend their support and cooperation to the ensure and enhance happiness of the population, promote peaceful coexistence, and ensure social security.

About the Department of Community Development
The Department of Community Development in Abu Dhabi (DCD) was established in 2018 to govern the social and community-development sector through a set of policies, strategies, systems, and standards. The Department aims to improve the quality of life in the emirate and provide a dignified life for all, through high-quality, impactful, and efficient services. One of DCD’s priorities is to raise awareness about social issues pertinent to Abu Dhabi and its people and find innovative solutions.
There are 4 main entities under the umbrella of DCD, namely: Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority (ADSSA), Authority of Social Contribution - (Ma'an), Abu Dhabi Centre for Sheltering, and Humanitarian Care - (Ewa'a), and Family Care Authority (FCA). The department also collaborates with 7 partners in the community development sector in Abu Dhabi to achieve the desired goals. These entities include Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO), Zayed House for Islamic Culture (ZHIC), Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), Family Development Foundation (FDF), The Social Care and Minors Affairs Foundation (SCMAF), Abu Dhabi Housing Authority (ADHA), and Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority (ECA).
