Dubai – To commemorate the International Day of Happiness, His Excellency Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs and CEO of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, recently hosted a ceremony to honor departments with the highest employee happiness levels. The honored departments were determined by a 2022 study conducted by the Dubai Executive Council, with the aim of promoting joy in the workplace. Moreover, departments and customs centers that excelled in the trust index for providing an excellent workplace environment were also recognized with the prestigious "Flag of Happiness" award. The event was graced by the presence of His Excellency Dhirar Belhoul Al-Falasi, Member of the Federal National Council, Executive Director of Watani Al-Emarat Foundation, as well as executive directors, department managers, and customs center managers.

During the ceremony, His Excellency Ahmed Mahboob Musabih emphasized the pivotal role of wise leadership in promoting the happiness and well-being of all individuals, be they citizens or residents. The leadership's focus on providing prosperity and happiness to individuals and society has been deeply embedded in all national initiatives, strategies, and plans.

In addition, he lauded the UAE's recent achievements, which are the fruit of the Founding Fathers’ unwavering commitment to bolster the nation's worldwide competitiveness, as well as the tireless efforts of the country’s wise leadership. The resounding success of Expo 2020 and the country's glowing international reputation as an exceptional host are testament to this fact. Notably, the UAE is a melting pot of over 200 nationalities, all living together in perfect harmony.

Mohammed Al Ghaffari, Executive Director, Human Resources, Finance and Administration Division, affirmed the Government Department's commitment to increasing job happiness levels through developmental initiatives that focus on creating a positive work environment to achieve employee welfare. This is done by supporting Dubai Customs’ efforts to build an exceptional work experience for employees. For this, Dubai Customs has introduced the "Happiness Flag" initiative, which recognizes and celebrates departments that secure the highest levels of employee satisfaction. By fostering healthy competition among departments, this initiative inspires teams to strive towards happiness as a collective goal.

At the event, His Excellency Dhirar Belhoul Al-Falasi delivered an insightful lecture on "Building National Reputation and Its Relationship with Employment," where he emphasized the significance of building a national reputation and the keys to establishing it. The lecture discussed enhancing the reputation by maintaining trust, credibility, governance, excellence, ethical behavior, public relations, and responsibility in the work environment. He also highlighted how national reputation is connected to employment and how employees can contribute positively towards its advancement.

Alongside the event, Emirati artist Abdullah Latif, a person of determination, showcased his remarkable designs and gifted them to employees to celebrate International Happiness Day.
