Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Active Hub Ramadan League has kicked off on March 27th and will run until the April 6th during the Holy Month of Ramadan, in line with Abu Dhabi Sports Council's objectives to promote an active lifestyle and encourage all members of the community to lead a healthy life, enhancing the quality of life in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The tournaments include various sports such as football, basketball, fitness training, swimming and aerobics, across 20 schools in the areas of Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, with sporting events and activities taking place at Khalifa City A School on the 10th and 11th of April for children. There will be male and female basketball competitions, male and female fitness classes, female aerobics, including male and female swimming competitions.
Talal Al Hashemi, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said: "We are pleased to organize the Ramadan Sports Tournaments in various Active Hub venues during the Holy Month, as it provides an opportunity for community members to come together, prioritize their health and physical fitness and to maintain an active lifestyle. Ramadan is a time to reflect on the important things in life and this include togetherness with family, friends, and the entire community. Actively engaging in sports is a perfect way to promote the spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood during this Holy Month and it is an ideal time to prioritize health and well-being.
“Encouraging the public to practice various sports is a strategic goal of the UAE, as we seek to enhance the community’s overall quality of life through a range of initiatives that encourages community members to participate in sports and improve their physical activity. We, at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, seek to inspire every member of the community to lead an active lifestyle, in line with this goal,” he ended.
Al Hashemi commended the role of families in encouraging their children to engage in healthy sports activities, thereby uplifting the overall health of community members, noting that the Council has worked tediously to provide the best sports facilities on an ongoing basis within the Active Hub initiative for various sports and physical activities to be easily available and accessible for all members of the community in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

About “Active Hub”:
The ‘Active Hub’ is a project launched by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in cooperation with the Emirates Schools Establishment and Palms Sports which aims to provide public access to a range of sports facilities available in 20 schools across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The facilities will be accessible after normal school working hours for male and female students, their families, and all members of the community.
The Active Hub program reflects the Abu Dhabi government’s keenness to motivate people to get active and be part of building a cohesive society. It achieves this by providing a space where people get to meet their neighbours and spend quality time with their families while improving their health and encouraging a more active community.
