Muscat - GDF SUEZ, since 20 years an investor in Oman's power & water sector under the Public-Private Partnership model, has rebranded as ENGIE. The new name comes with a positive, optimistic vision of the energy future. Itreflects the Group's ambition to accelerate its development in a global energy landscape that is undergoing profound changes with the development of decentralized renewable energies, energy efficiency and a 'digital revolution'.
Commenting on the unveiling of the ENGIE brand, Johan Van Kerrebroeck, Country Manager for Oman, Saudi Arabia & Qatar at ENGIE,said: "These drastic changes have been prompted among others by climate change, the depletion of natural resources and the need to ensure access to energy for all. We at ENGIE can leverageour global experience and expertise to take up these challenges and develop innovative solutions for our customers. It is our aim to be an 'architect' of this energy transition."
In Oman, ENGIE is a long-term investor under the Public-Private Partnership model through its interests in two power and water desalination plants (Barka 2 and Sohar 1) and four power production plants (Al Rusail, Al Kamil, Barka 3 and Sohar 2). The Group also has a 70 per cent holding in Suez-Tractebel Operations and Maintenance Oman LLC (STOMO), Oman's largest provider of operation and maintenance services in the energy sector.
