Dubai: Australia-based digital company, FilMe, which has an increasing video streaming footprint in the Middle East today announced a strategic partnership with India’s entertainment super app MX Player to enhance its content bouquet to the UAE audience. MX Player’s flagship content, Aashram (all seasons) go live today at FilMe retail points.

In a statement, FilMe said the content acquisition partnership with MX Player will pave the way for continuous streaming of big web series and movies exclusively to the UAE market.

“It is a win-win alliance for both MX Player and FilMe as it will bring exclusive content to our UAE audience from one of the biggest video streaming and video-on-demand platform. We consider it as a milestone move for FilMe as we continue to secure an increasing share of the audience in the highly competitive market of the UAE,” said Dr. Abhishek Shukla, Founder of FilMe.

Integrating all forms of entertainment on one app – including video playback, streaming video, music and gaming – MX Player is now amongst the top 10 Worldwide Social and Entertainment Apps in terms of time spent as per App Annie’s The Evolution of Social Media Apps report. Its core proposition is streaming high quality, digital first content for free and has a large and exciting slate of MX Originals/MX Exclusives across 10 Indian languages and in varied formats – be it web series, films, news, and international dubbed content amongst others.

Elaborating on this partnership, Mansi Shrivastav, SVP and Head – Content Acquisitions & Alliances, MX Player said, “This partnership will help us expand our content offerings in key international markets that enjoy Indian web series as well as cater to the large Indian diaspora that reside in these territories. Meanwhile, according to Jeetender Singh Bansal, Head of Content Acquisition at FilMe, “This association also provides an easy window for audiences in UAE who are deprived of good content available back home in India and they do not have access to.

Aashram is a Hindi crime drama web series directed by Prakash Jha for MX Player, starring Bobby Deol in the lead. This sensational 9-part series also stars Aaditi Pohankar, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Darshan Kumaar, Anupriya Goenka, Adhyayan Suman, Tridha Choudhury, Vikram Kochhar, Tushar Pandey, Sachin Shroff, Anuritta K Jha and Rajeev Siddhartha in pivotal roles. This fictional story revolves around the undying loyalty for Kashipur Waale Baba Nirala and his Aashram, played by Bobby Deol, weaving a tale of blind faith and politics.

The other slate of upcoming shows in Hindi language are Nakaab, Sanak – Ek Junoon, Kaand, Raktanchal season 1 & 2 and Anamika.

Nakaab is a splendid thriller web series in which the story sees Aditi Amre (Esha Gupta) get assigned to a high-profile death case of a prime-time television actress Vibha Dutta (Ankita Chakrobarty) who was very close to television czarina Zohra Mehra (Mallika Sherawat). The story unfolds many twists and turns and will regale the audience with its extraordinary storyline.

 'Sanak: Ek Junoon' is a series about an ambitious couple from a small town who relocate to Mumbai in search of a better life.

Raktanchal is a high-octane, action-packed crime drama inspired by real events from the 80s of Purvanchal, Uttar Pradesh. Exploring the concept of thekedaari - this story revolves around the time when the state’s development work was distributed through tenders and explores a surreal journey into the brutality set in the Indian hinterland.

Anamika starring Sunny Leon, directed by Vikram Bhatt, is yet another show eagerly awaited on MX Player before the year end.

Matsya Kaand, a highly anticipated con thriller directed by Ajay Bhuyan and brings viewers the story of an honourable con artist – Matsya Thada (Ravii Dubey) who conducts his kaand with aptitude, intelligence, and charm rather than using his brawn.  This series, starring Ravii Dubey, Ravi Kishan, Piyush Mishra, Zoya Afroz, Madhur Mittal, Rajesh Sharma and Naved Aslam amongst others will be the next release on FilMe.
