Sharm ElSheikh, Egypt: Tomorrow, the 1st of June, witnesses the launch of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group’s Annual Meetings, taking place in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, from 1-4 June 2022, under the theme of: “Beyond Recovery: Resilience and Sustainability.”

The Meetings are to be held this year in light of major economic and geopolitical developments characterized by the noticeable decline in the COVID-19 pandemic and the renewed hope that the world is on track for the recovery phase.

Ministers of Economy, Planning, and Finance from 57 member countries of the Bank will participate in these Meetings. Representatives of international and regional financial institutions, as well as representatives of Islamic banks, national development finance institutions, and unions of contractors and consultants from OIC member countries, will also attend the activities associated with these meetings.

The Bank Group invited the governors of member countries to participate in the Meetings, as they represent an opportunity to study new developments and explore prospects for consolidating economic relations between member countries, in light of the steady international changes, in addition to the opportunities these meetings provide for discussion with participating financing institutions, as well as maximizing the member countries’ benefits from the services and funding provided by these institutions.

This year's Meetings are to witness - for the first time over four days - the holding of a new edition of the IsDB Group Private Sector Forum, in which representatives of major companies and the business community at the local, regional and international levels are expected to take part.

In addition, the Meetings are to comprise the IsDB Cairo regional hub inauguration ceremony, along with the signing of a number of agreements that stress the Bank's strategy aiming to enable its member countries to be steadfast, and move forward in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
