Dubai, UAE: Mercedes-Benz underlines its commitment to the advancement of women by sponsoring the 2023 Global Summit of Women, for 18 years in a row, a summit that highlights the role of female leadership in establishing peace, social integration and driving prosperity. The Global Summit of Women will come together again this year under the common vision of expanding women’s economic opportunities globally through exchanges of working solutions and creative strategies forged by women leaders in different parts of the world.

The summit will be held on 4-6 May 2023 under the slogan “Women: Leading a new Climate of Change”. It aims to inspire the next generation of women leaders – offering a platform for global female opinion leaders in the public and private sectors to discuss: the future of work; women leading & partnering in new technologies; re-designing entrepreneurship with sustainable solutions; and mitigating climate change through innovation.

A delegation of women in senior positions, heading various departments at Mercedes-Benz from across the globe, will be attending the summit in Dubai accompanied by Ban Al-Fakhri, member of the Board of Management & Head of Human Resources, and Natalie Thompson, Head of Marketing & Communications at Mercedes-Benz Cars Middle East, who will also be in attendance to support at the event.

A special guest, Reema Juffali, who was recently at the centre of the Mercedes-Benz International Women’s Day campaign film, will be joining Mercedes-Benz at the event. Reema is Saudi Arabia’s first female racing driver, who is competing in the GT World Challenge at the wheel of a Mercedes-AMG GT3. She established her own team – Theeba Motorsport – in 2022, and has set up a series of internships and training programmes to offer greater access to motor sports for young Saudis. The BBC selected her as one of the world’s most inspiring and influential woman in 2022.

The advancement of women is an area of action of the Diversity & Inclusion Management at Mercedes-Benz. In 2006, Mercedes-Benz was among the first German corporations to set itself a voluntary goal to increase the Group-wide share of women in senior management positions to 20 percent by the end of 2020. This goal has been achieved. The share is currently at almost 25 percent. As a next step, Mercedes-Benz aims to have 30 percent women in senior management by 2030. The Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG is almost 40 percent female, with three women among the eight members.
