FUJAIRAH:- H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, highlighted the key role of the arts in shaping human civilisations throughout history.
He made this statement while attending the Theatre Summit, which coincides with the International Theatre Institute (ITI) Congress.
The 36th ITI World Congress is being held under the patronage of UNESCO to deepen and expand the joint efforts of constructive dialogue, exchange, and networking.
The event was attended by Saeed bin Mohammed Al Raqbani, Special Advisor to the Ruler of Fujairah, Mohammed Saeed Al Dhanhani, Director of the Emiri Court of Fujairah, and over 500 theatre specialists from around the world.
Sheikh Mohammed also highlighted the support and directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, which are the foundation of the cultural activities that made the emirate a destination for talents and artists, in line with the country’s related approach.
In his speech, Mohamed Saif Al Afkham, President of the ITI, noted that hosting the summit for the first time in the Arab region is an opportunity to showcase performing arts, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fujairah is an important destination for talents and artists, he added, lauding the support of Sheikh Mohammed for the summit.
Mubarak Al Nakhi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, highlighted the UAE’s support for culture, intellectuals and creators.
At this Congress, participants shall be inspired by debate, artistry, and sharing best practices, reigniting their love of the theatre arts and the people associated with them.
