The ABCK – AmCham Kuwait’s Women in Business Focus Group in partnership with the U.S. Embassy of Kuwait hosted its second diversity & inclusion diwaniya of the year, sponsored and hosted by the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. The event started with opening remarks by ABCK-AmCham Kuwait’s Women in Business Focus Group’s Chair - Dr. Arezou Harraf, who welcomed male and female key-decision makers and participants, as she gave a warm welcome to H.E. Ambassador Claire Le Flecher of the French Embassy, and the U.S. Embassy’s Counsellor for Public Affairs, Christy Watkins.
Dr. Harraf started the discussion by talking about inclusive change management, inclusivity to foster women in leadership positions and support women in the workforce. Dr. Harraf also spoke about what change management is according to the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and why it is important for entities to understand that they need to be inclusive when going through organizational changes.
Participants at the diwaniya discussed the definition of change management, which is the process of organizing, putting into practice, and evaluating changes in order to accomplish particular goals or objectives. This includes determining the need for change, creating an implementation strategy, informing individuals who will be impacted, and assessing the outcomes. Any business that is undergoing substantial change or launching new initiatives has to undertake change management because it helps to guarantee that the changes are effectively incorporated into the organization with the least amount of interruption and maximum value.
Recent studies show that women are underrepresented in leadership roles across a wide range of sectors. Moreover, women frequently have particular difficulties at work, such as difficulty with work-life balance, harassment, and discrimination. Companies and organizations have introduced several crucial methods to promote diversity and help their workforce navigate through these difficulties. These tactics include giving women access to networking and mentorship opportunities, creating leadership development courses expressly for women, providing more flexible work schedules, and maintaining a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination.
By embracing inclusive change management, entities are committed to creating a workplace culture where women can thrive and succeed in leadership positions while retaining their workforce.
We believe that fostering diversity and inclusivity is not only the right thing to do, but it is also good for business. ABCK-AmCham Kuwait is excited about this initiative and the positive impact it will have on the business community in Kuwait.
