Abu Dhabi, UAE: 42 Abu Dhabi, the UAE capital’s innovative and disruptive coding school that provides a unique peer-to-peer learning methodology, held an insightful session titled ‘Cyber Security Engineer: A Personal Journey from Zero to Hero’ conducted by BEACON RED. BEACON RED is one of the leading entities which enhances national security preparedness throughout the Middle East and aims to disrupt the status quo by tackling global issues of national security. The session was led by Shatha Alahmed, an Emirati Cyber Security Engineer at BEACON RED and one of the leading experts in the field within the UAE who shared her professional journey within the cyber security industry.

The session was conducted as part of the ‘42 Abu Dhabi Talks’ initiative, through which the school aims to host some of the most influential pioneers and leaders in prominent sectors to highlight their success stories and share it with students. These talks seek to inspire students and expand their knowledge about the endless career possibilities available for coders within various sectors, which enables them to embark on a successful career journey once they graduate.

As a mother of two and a full-time Cyber Security Engineer, Shatha inspired 42 Abu Dhabi students with her career journey and educated them on the certifications needed to excel and thrive in this sector. 42 Abu Dhabi students discovered the diverse career paths available to them in security such as Penetration Testing, Security Engineering, Threat Intelligence and Malware Analysis, which are all in-demand digital-centric roles in the current job market.

The session covered an overview about BEACON RED, along with Shatha’s career journey as a Cyber Security Engineer and mentor for young professionals. During the session, Shatha provided 42 Abu Dhabi students with tools and techniques that will enable them to bridge between their coding knowledge and the field of cyber security, to create a successful career path and empower them to contribute to the Emirate’s digital security.

Shatha also tackled BEACON RED’s recent partnership agreement with 42 Abu Dhabi, which aims to enrich the learning experiences of students, elevate their skills in the field of national security, and encourage them to compete for future roles in vital fields such as defense and advanced technology.
