Amman: Reaffirming their shared commitment to championing innovation and entrepreneurship, the European Union (EU) and Luminus ShamalStart hosted on Tuesday 21 May, 2019, a workshop titled ‘EU Med means Business: Shaping the Future of Entrepreneurship in the South’. Held under the patronage of H.E. Johannes Hahn, EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, the workshop was organized in parallel with the ‘EU Med means Business’ conference conducted in Belgium and with three other workshops in Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt, besides Jordan.
The ‘EU Med means Business’ conference aims to provide a space for open debate across Mediterranean countries to discuss challenges and opportunities for investment and entrepreneurship in the Neighbourhood South. Luminus ShamalStart invited a group of experts and leaders from relevant fields to participate in the workshop, which supported the conference's goals by tackling three key topics: Investment and Job Creation, Unleashing Entrepreneurial Potential and Nurturing Talent as a Driver for Inclusive Growth.
"The ‘EU Med means Business’ conference offers the private sector the opportunity to formulate recommendations on how to stimulate investment and entrepreneurship in Jordan, and contribute to shaping EU policies in the region," commented H.E. Andrea Matteo Fontana, EU Ambassador to Jordan.
In turn, Eng. Ibrahim Faza, Manager of Luminus ShamalStart, stated: “This conference actively enriches the local entrepreneurial ecosystem and enables Jordan to participate in shaping EU policy by providing recommendations on effective measures to be considered within the upcoming five years. In tandem, the conference showcases the positive impact of the mutual partnership between Jordan and the EU in terms of job creation for youth through promoting investment, entrepreneurship, innovation and inclusive growth; vital pillars that are closely aligned with Luminus ShamalStart’s core objectives.”
