Dubai: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world's largest district cooling services provider, highlighted that the Cityscape Global 2019 is an opportunity to see Dubai’s major architectural icons, many of which rely on environmentally-friendly district cooling services. Empower also urged the participants to adopt district cooling technology in their future projects to boost the efforts to increase energy efficiency worldwide.
‘Cityscape Global’, which is being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, from 25 to 27 September, is a major opportunity for real estate developers and investors to review Dubai's growing real estate sector. It also sheds light on advanced technologies which are transforming the real estate and development system, and multifunctional automated systems to smart buildings and future properties.
Empower added that it has recently connected to several major projects with it’s district cooling services, including 5 architectural icons of twin towers in Dubai. These include Jumeirah Emirates Towers, with a total capacity of 6,000 Refrigeration Tons (RT), Damac Towers by Paramount, with a total cooling capacity of 7,500 RT, , JW Marriot Marquis, with a total cooling capacity of 6,700RT, Al Fattan Marine Towers, with a total cooling capacity of 4,100RT, and Emirates Financial Towers, with a total cooling capacity of 2,700RT.
Empower highlighted that real estate developers should have a clear understanding about the required capacity of district cooling services before construction starts, as this helps in reducing costs and increases energy efficiency of buildings. District cooling also contribute to environmental conservation and carbon footprint reduction. In addition, it saves space compared to conventional cooling systems. This allows project owners to utilise this space for other operations and facilities for the buildings.
“We are proud to be offering our services to five of the most iconic twin towers in Dubai. This reflects the diversity of our portfolio in serving leading real estate and residential towers in Dubai and the real estate sector. It also reflects the growing demand for the adoption of district cooling technology, which contributes to saving energy, preserving the environment, and promoting sustainability, in line with Dubai's national initiatives,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.
“Showcasing the projects that use modern, environmentally-friendly district cooling services at Cityscape Global contributes to spreading awareness of the importance of district cooling as it saves 50% energy consumption compared to conventional cooling methods,” added Bin Shafar.
Bin Shafar stressed that Empower strives to extend its role from a provider of district cooling service to a forerunner in launching and implementing several initiatives towards energy efficiency and promote sustainable development to reduce carbon emissions, by expanding its portfolio.
Empower provides district cooling services to more than 1,090 buildings, catering to more than 100,000 customers. The company operates more than 1.43 Million Refrigeration Tons (RT), providing environmentally friendly district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments, such as Bluewaters, Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World Trade Centre Residences and Dubai Design District, Dubai Production City and others.
